Green Tea

Has anyone ever heard of being allergic to green tea? When I drink it I become very ill (high fever, muscle and joint aches). Usually within 3-4 hours after consumption. Could this be an allergy or something else?

hello.. A allergic reaction can react in any fashion..But most useally u will get the hives.. Which is big red splottcy spots useally on the soft spots of your body..Like under your arms, waist,hips,thighs,stomach..
Hives last 3-10 days..Sometimes longer! Very itchy..Dont scatch cause it will get sore if u do..Which they do sometimes spread on your body depending on how much u are allergic to something..

As far as a fever, and muscle and joint pain this doesnt seem like a allergic reaction but could be..Check with a doctor

it sounds like when u drink the tea u have been working all day and on feet and you said down and get stiff..
Hmmm really dont know.. I thought green tea is supose to be good for you..I drink it all the time and I have lupus and other medical conditions..
Wish I could help you!

Thanks for your response. I thought those were odd symptoms of an allergic reaction too. But I quit drinking it and haven't had any more problems, so I guess i'll just leave it at that. Thanks again!

Sick After Drinking Green Tea.
Posted: 08-12-05 14:07pm

A while ago, I decided to quit smoking and drinking and I wanted to get rid of the toxins in my body so I decided to drink green tea everyday, I bought a bottle of green tea and dranked half a bottle and in a few minutes I started to feel really dizzy and hot and developed a fever that made me breakout in seconds, I had to leave work to go home and became frustrated and made matter worst, I guess it is really detoxining me, but suffering from the symtoms is not worth it. I havn't touched green tea ever since, or any other tea, it was such a traumatic experience.

I think green tea is good for anyone's health.
Green tea helps fight cancer, prevent cholesterol excess, avert tooth decay, helps with lose weight, and lower high blood pressure.
Also, there is white tea, with lighter color and very useful properties too.

Allergic to Green Tea
Posted: 04-09-08 08:25am

I was so excited to see this post. I recently started taking a Green Tea supplement and experienced the worst muscle and joint and nerve pain I have ever experienced in my life. I was ready to go to the hospital it got so bad. When I realized that it might be the Green Tea, I stopped taking it and fully recovered with 24 hours. Thank-You sooooooo much for the post. It verifies my concern. Some people are just plain allergic and can't take it.
