I recieved ortho tri cyclen-lo from my doctor and have not taken it yet due to fear of horrible side effects. I just have some questions for anyone who is or was on it

-did you gain any weight, and if so how much?

-did your acne improve? Or did it get worse? And how was it before you started taking it?

If anyone can give me feedback, it would be greatly appreciated b/c I am really wanting to get my periods regulated but dont know if its worth awful irreversible side effects. Thank you

Ortho Tri Cyclen
I was on ortho tri levlin when I was in high school and it worked fine for me, however, when I got on ortho tri cyclen, I started having all kinds of problems.

I did gain weight, but not much, I am small anyway, so it didn't make much of a difference.

I didn't have problems with acne prior to using tri cyclen so I can't answere you there.

I will tell you, I had a horrible time with depression. When I went to the doctor and told her I was having problems, she said she sees this all the time with ortho tri cyclen. The reason is that since it is tri, there are 3 different hormones. They change every week. That screws some women up. Plus it is too strong.

My advice would be to not use anything that is tri, ortho tri cyclen or tri levlin. I have heard jasmine, and aleese are good ones. Also the patch works well.

I hope this helps. :)

Dont Worry
I've been on that specific type of birth control for the past few months and it's working perfectly. I"m not experiencing any side effects. No weight gain, and ....Well...I've experienced nothing but a regular cycle. Of course it'll be different for everyone- so I wish you the best of luck.

Worry Free
I was on ortho tri cyclen lo for almost a year. To tell the truth, I gained 1 (yes one) pound. My acne (not that I had a huge problem, but iccasional outbreaks) greatly improved. I no longer had problems, ever. The only side effect I experienced was after I quite having sex, I would miss the pill once in awhile and notice that I may get a little bleeding. So, I would recommend that you are having sex while on the pill because I believe it it too string otherwise. Dont miss a pill. Set your cell phone alarm.

Depending on the individual some pills work for some and not others. I didnt have any problem with the brand you are considering or any other bills except that now that I have gone off them 5 months later I have no period and acne (but this isnt common and I have always had problems with my period coming though never acne.) im going back on the orth low in hopes that it will make my acne improve since this didnt happen until I stopped taking it. I gaind no weight. I have actually heard of people gaining more on the patch. Most people dont have any big side effects and if you have a little one they just switch you to a differnt type of pill. Make sure you take the pill at the same time every day though.

Re: Ortho Tri Cyclen
Did you have problems with major mood swings and emotions changing tremoundesly? How much weight did you gain? I was on the ortho tri cyclen. Starting soon I will be starting the tri levlin. I am worried that this won't work either.

Ortho Tri-cyclin Lo
I used to take ortho tri-cyclin. It was fine for me...No side effects. I have 3 children, 11, 7 and 3 months. I only stopped taking the pill for 1 month when I planned to get pregnant and I had no problems getting pregnant. Otherwise I never had a pregnancy scare. My skin was never perfect but it did control much of my breakouts. Like all pills, some work wonders on one person but not another. I saw one response where it says the patch works great. Yes it prevented me from getting pregnant but it also made me gain 18 lbs in less than one month (my friend gained 15 lbs on the patch) and it kinda felt like a dirty bandaid that got ichy after a couple of days. So its more of you having to try which pill/patch works best for you. I only know about the shot having the worst side effects and was recommended by everyone that yes, it prevented pregnancy but the side effects of severe weight gain and heavy bleeding for long periods of time happened to all (one or another side effect), with the bleeding some had to end up taking the pill to help stop the bleeding or they had to wait out until the day the next shot was due.

i get terrible mood swings the third week into taking ortho tri cyclen lo. I have a major break down, get depressed and my face starts breaking out. This episode only last about a day but it is really intense. I was not like this before taking the pills. I only gain a slight bit of weight but I find its harder to lose now that I am on the pills.

i weigh 100 lbs so ortho tri cyclen lo might be too strong for me. before taking ortho tri cyclen lo i was bubbly and i felt light. i'm now into the third month of taking this pill and i'm moody all the time. nothing makes me laugh like it used to and it's hard for me to smile sometimes. it's causing real problems between my boyfriend and i because i take my anxiety and irritability out on him. we get into stupid arguments every day - it never used to be like this. i feel heavy and exhausted all the time - like i'm carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. i am definitely switching to another brand of birth control.

i've been taking ortho tricyclen lo and so far, everything is goood.

-i've beenn spotting everyday, but thats normally a sign that my period is coming soon. my period is coming soon so this will be my first period on my pill and i dont know how its gonna be like. hopefully with lesser periods because i normally have it for A WEEK!

-acne, i had a few, and it seems the same to me.

-if anything, the pill lessened my feeling of depression, but occasionally when i do feel a bit depressed, it hits hard. but it fades.

-weight, i've had a loss of appetite because summers coming up and i want that body! but i dont think i've gained weight. just keep excercising.

i started taking birth control to regulate my periods because i get really bad cramps. i started out on seasonale, which was awesome given that i only got 4 periods a year, but it had a few side effects i didn't like. then it switched to seasonique the side effects just got worse. acne, vaginal dryness, pain during sex, mood changes.

i went back to my doctor and she said that it was probably just too high of a dose for me since i'm kind of small. she put me on ortho tricyclen lo and its been great so far. it didn't necessarily clear up my skin or anything but its back to normal, i haven't gained any weight or anything and i haven't noticed any other differences or anything out of the ordinary.

the only other thing i can say is that everyone reacts differently to medications. like when i first started on birth control it made me really nauseas for the first week or so, i threw up a few times, but thats a normal side effect at first and it goes away. but another normal side effect is spotting or break through bleeding inbetween periods which i never had on any of the pills i tried.

so it all really depends on the person, but all you need to know is that the side effects are always temporary. if you end up having problems there are tons of other birth control's that you can try.

I asked my doctor for birth control because my period were lasting a week and was every 32-43 days...UNPREDICTABLE. I have a 3 year old so I am only planning on being on birth control for about 2-3 to regulate my period in order to get pregnant easier and faster. My doctor gave me Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I start my first dose (basically, first birth control AT ALL) tomorrow. All Im reading is negative comments about the pill. Granted, they all have their side effects, but its temporary. I am 22 and about 110 lb, so Im going to start this tomorrow and at least try to stick with it for the 2-3 months, especially through the 3 week "downtime". I'll see how it goes and keep you ladies posted.....Hopefully, after I finish taking it, by the time Jan-Feb comes around, my fiance and I will have another bun in the oven

Has anyone had trouble with nausea? Severe nausea, acid reflux, migraines, exhaustion. This didn't start until 6 months after my daughter started taking it.

Is this normally prescribed to help lighten heavy periods? My doctor recommended Loestrin because I have been having insanely heavy periods every two weeks for the past three months. She wanted to give me a sample to try. The people at the front desk of her office gave me a sample of Ortho Tricyclen Lo.

i started taking the ortho tri cyclen lo one year and four months ago. It made me a total different person but i never realized it was from the birth control. I was small to begin with and i lost about 15 pounds when i started it and was never able to gain weight. I was tired every day, could not focus, no motivation, personality was out the window, i would throw often, i was miserable. My doctors never said anything to me that it could be from the birth control so I didnt think to stop taking it. Last month about april 20th i stopped taking it because i started thinking maybe it was the birth control making me feel like this. I noticed a difference within 4 days and i now feel NORMAL again besides im hot all the time now which may be my hormones still adjusting. The birth control did not make to much of a difference for my period. The only good effect it had for me was my skin was always smooth as could be. I've never had "acne" but there is a noticable difference in my skin since i stopped taking the birth control. I'll never try any birth control with hormones in it again after seeing how severe it effected me.

need info on ortho-cyclen!
I just started taking lo-ovral and after 1 week i am experiencing hair falling out. I called the pharmacist and she said to switch, that this is common. so i'm thinking about asking for ortho-cyclen. however, I'm afraid it might make me nauseous. lo-ovral made me a little sick and it has slightly less estrogen than orthocyclen. and practically everything makes me throw up. I just want a birth control that won't make my hair fall out! any suggestions?? i never had this problem til i went on implanon last summer, and got it removed 4 months later.

ortho tri cyclin lo
I weigh 120 lbs, I have been taking ortho tri cyclen lo for 2 months and a half. I have been experiencing major breakdowns almost every other day. I am emotional and very unhappy. I have never been an emotional person and I am now crying constantly. I stopped taking the pill today, my friend told me I should take the pill every other day for a little bit (a week or so) to ease my body off the pill, is this true? I would really like to stop taking the pill.
