I'm 6 weeks pregnant and especially at night have tummy and back cramps. Is this normal? Do others also feel quite a lot of cramping in the beginning of their pregnancies?

I used to get minor cramping almost every other day. I'm ten weeks 5 days along now and just like once a week I will have incredibly bad cramping.....Hopefully it's nothing to worry about because there is no bleeding. I know that cramping is normal because your uterus is trying to grow!

Hey gang! Just wanted to add my comments regarding back pain and cramping. I had that same thing happen to me, and i'm actually still experiencing it, but I was told by my doctor that it is due to a uti. So, that may be something you want to look into. I'm 6 weeks along and this entire time I just assumed it was my uterus stretching. I'm sure some of it is, but it wouldn't hurt to test that as well.

Hi ladies

after extreme cramping at work and at the end bleeding, last night my hubby and I went to the emergency room. Luckily so far my little bean still has a strong heartbeat but the second little one was lost. I've now been booked off and i'm on medication to stop the cramping and keep my uterus closed. In my case it's still very early days for my pregnancy and i'm sure that a certain amount of cramping is normal. Best of luck to you all

Hi, i'm 5 weeks and also have some cramping occasionally, mostly at night. It feels just like the cramps before my period starts, I keep half expecting to get my period! My doctor said it was normal as long as I didnt bleed heavily. I also noticed they get worse when I have to go to the bathroom and go away after I do. So you're not alone!

Another question for everyone- has anyone else noticed that they have increased sensitivity to smell? My boyfriend has made fun of me but I swear certain things smell so much stronger to me now. I actually noticed it before I knew I was pregnant. Someone back me up here so I can show him i'm not nuts! Thanks !!

Sorry I keep beating the uti horse, but angel if you're also feeling pain when you use the bathroom, you seriously might want to find out if you have an infection. It is very common very pregnant women to get utis. I guess i'm just trying to spread the word because I went through three weeks of pain when I probably didn't have to had I gotten myself checked for it earler. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for your concern, I did get all the tests done and everything was fine. It doesnt actually hurt when I go, just when my bladder gets full in the middle of the night I think it makes the cramping worse. Thanks for the advice though.... Much appreciated. Its awesome that I can ask you guys stuff b/c this is my first time and I have no idea what i'm doin !

Hi jlee

i was implanted with two fertilized eggs already on 8 stage division. All was okay with bloodtests and up to 7 weeks but my doctor thinks that the bleeding was because the one embryo was ejected. Only one heartbeat could be found. It was only my first echo so maybe the one never worked but then I should have ejected it 3 weeks ago. (on top of that I have an ovarian cyste...My specialist will decide on tuesday what needs to be done)

it's not so bad because so far i'm still pregnant .... And having to spend a lot of time laying down. Actually i'm taking spasfon now (doctors prescription) and i'm back on utrogestan to strenghten the umbiblical cord's connection.

It's now been 3 days of spasfon and the cramping has slowed down to a supportable level every now and then, not all the time.

I feel so stupid to call my doctor a lot but rather safe than sorry...

Im 13 weeks and every now and then I get a cramp here and there in my lower back and sometimes my stomache.. Its just the baby getting comfortable in the uterus, thats what my mom says.... The uterus is stretching to make room for the little bundle of joy..

Hi jlee

wow!! 23 weeks is already over half way!!! Boy or a girl???And have you found a name yet??

I'm 31, hubby 32 and been ttc for 4 years and in vitro first time...Pregnant!!! Nothing is normal with in vitro because every body says miscarriages are high in the first trimester and so nobody is specifically very enthusiastic or wanna chat at work or my family or my family-in-law. So I chat to you ;-)

my fertility specialist is seeing me nearly every week but although i'm now 8 weeks he still doesn't want to declare my pregnancy or even start the typical process of sonogram, bloodtests for toxoplasmose, ect. Moreover, he spends only about 10 minutes with me which includes his hello and goodbye!!!

I've decided to go back to my gynecologist so I got an appointment in february and hopefully she'll be more positive and supportive otherwise i'll have to emigrate somewhere where doctors know about smiling and chatting to patients!!!

Anyway, alls fine, cramping has slowed down and nausea has kicked in. Ah, the pleasures of being pregnant;-)

Speaking of cats theres more to it then not changing the litter, don't let the cat go outside and don't let your cat it raw meat. Both of these things can hurt you.

Cramping
:x

well I just found out I was pregnant monday. I am 4 weeks pregnant and what brought me to the Dr. Wasn't my lack of periods (im polycystic and miss them a lot) it was my severe cramping like I was gonna get my period. I have had cramping like this for 3 weeks, so apparently starting week one with cramping. My Dr. Said that girls that get extreme cramping with their periods sometimes will have cramping up til week 12.

The other thing that is driving me crazy is I seem insomniac lately and keep getting hot and cold chills.

I'm just happy to be pregnant though. We were not supposed to be able to get pregnant without fertility medicines and suddenly we are pregnant without.
