Best Formal Work Shoes For Lower Back Pain
Posted: 01-16-05 12:18pm

I have suffered lower back pain since a child but have learned to manage it effectively to mitigate the pain. I have used black dr martens with my suit for some time and bought a new pair recently. However the quality has declined and it is like walking on concrete when I wear them causing me sever pain. Luckily I did not throw away my old pair. I have always sworn by dr martens but production has shifted to the middle east recently and they are simply not the same shoe. There was no cushioning effect as with my old pair.

Can anyone recommend a brand of shoes good for lower back pain? They must be black and formal enough to wear with a suit.

Thanks

Rockport shoes are typically a very nice and super comfortable shoe. You can get them at sears and also various other mall anchor stores. They are really nice and very comfy.

When my back pain was just beginning, I presented seminars all day, most days. So, I faced the same issue of finding a dressy shoe that gave me the best support.
I ended up with rockports. They are not the best quality but they are the best for your back. Be careful about getting a good fit. Their actual sizes seem to vary within the sise designation.
I believe that insoles are as important or more important than the shoe. Look for an insole that has sorbethane in the heel and toe areas. Your best source is a runnig store or other specialty shoe store. Forget about department stores or chain shoe stores. Their insoles generally are not substantial. You almost need to buy the insole first since it wiill take more room in the shoes than the stock insole. Of course, you want to fit the shoe with your new insole in it.
Good luck.
