When my back pain was just beginning, I presented seminars all day, most days. So, I faced the same issue of finding a dressy shoe that gave me the best support.
I ended up with rockports. They are not the best quality but they are the best for your back. Be careful about getting a good fit. Their actual sizes seem to vary within the sise designation.
I believe that insoles are as important or more important than the shoe. Look for an insole that has sorbethane in the heel and toe areas. Your best source is a runnig store or other specialty shoe store. Forget about department stores or chain shoe stores. Their insoles generally are not substantial. You almost need to buy the insole first since it wiill take more room in the shoes than the stock insole. Of course, you want to fit the shoe with your new insole in it.
Good luck.
