Hi,
i haven't posted in a long time,( computers been down and so have i)
i have tried all the seizure meds and the combos the doc can come up with. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, but usually only for a sort period of time. As the doc keeps calling it the "honeymoon" period.

A couple of months ago I was at my wits end, ready just to have my whole brain removed,
when my doc suggested I try a "really" old med that noone uses any more.... Peganone.

Is anyone else on it???????

The pharmacy had to special order it for me even. I have slowly increased my dose i'm up to 2000mg a day, and i'm doing good.
(i'm also still on 100mg of topamax)
the side effects are not that bad, I have a hard time sleeping, mild headaches, and my muscles hurt a little. But nothing that I can't deal with.

Any input would be great,
thanks,
jill

Hey jill, I have heard of others using some old school meds and having success! Great that you can deal with the side effects! I sure hope the peganon keeps doing ok for you!

Hang in there. You can talk to the neuro about melatonin to see if that would help you sleep. It is an otc thing. Some neuros love it, some do not. My son uses it and it really helps with sleep.

Sorry no experience with that med, though....

Hang in there! Hope this lasts much longer than the honeymoon phase!

Thanks for the encouragement, when the meds are the only way to handle the seizures and you bounce around on them it gets to be a big pain.
I'll inquire about the melatonin.....And let you know.
Thanks again,
jill
