Essure
Hi,

i've done a lot of research on it, and basically it seems like a good alternative to tubal ligation, which is invasive.

Here's some of the stuff I learned:

the procedure only takes about 20 minutes, or so, and you can go home the same day. It can be done in the doctor's office, or in the hospital. Some insurance will pay part of the procedure. Most women don't experience a lot of pain afterwards, and most return to work the next day.

The recommend using an alternative birth control method for at least three months after the procedure is done, just to make sure it worked. There are some cases where the "barrier" didn't block the egg and pregnancy occured, but not many cases.

I'm thinking of getting it done because the birth control pill i'm on now, the "micronor mini pill" is making my breasts huge, and making me gain so much weight. I took the combination pill for over 20 years and suddently got high blooc pressure, so I can't take it any more. I really hate the progestin-only pill due to the side effects.

If I get the essure procedure done, i'll post my experience here.

I Had the Essure Procedure Done...
Appx. 2 1/2 years ago and up until the last 5 months I haven't had any problems. No pregnancy, not even a scare of pregnancy, my monthly cycle was a lot better, less cramping, shorter in length. The only thing was that I would get a horrible migraine the day before I started my monthly cycle.

Now for the last 5 months I have had 2 cycles each month, with very heavy bleeding. I can not find a reason for the change. I am actually going into the Dr. Today to see if I can get this figured out. I have been trying to research information to see if it could be something to do with the essure procedure but can not find anything that talks about it after 2 to 3 years of having the procedure done.

If the change in my cycles has nothing to with the essure procedure I would highly recommend it to anyone!
