Greetings,

i am currently in the process of writing an advanced biology report for school. I have chosen to write about skin cancer and its affects on the body. I hope the visitors of this forum can inform me about this topic. More specifically, I was wondering about the affects on the body of skin cancer. In my research it informs me that skin caner is a malignant cell that keeps dividing and doesn't stop like nomral cells. Why is it that normal cells die periodically and cancer cells don't? Does it invlolve a condition with the nucleus of the cell caused by uv radiation? Also, if cancer isn't found and stopped right away, besides spreading to the rest of the body, what affects does cancer have on the skin? What causes skin cancer to spread to the rest of the body? Any information you can provide will be greatly appriciated.

Skin Cancer Information
In my family we carry a fatal skin cancer a heredity form of melanoma it has killed off my uncle at 29, my aunt at 40, my other uncle at 54,my father at 55, my cousin has it now and is treatment he is 25, my brother has had treatment for it already he is 37, I am 38 and scared. What I can tell you is that it metastasices to move through the body. It seems to get worse when air born(surgery) it worsens with sunburns and tanning booths. I dont know if you can really do preventive measures with heredity cancer. Stay out of the sun.

Melanoma Update
The university (like college) of newcastle in new south wales, australia has recently shown some positive results using (this was found by accident - like all good things) a direct injection of a flu(yes as in a cold) virus into the melanoma & it not only killed off the melanoma cells but went on 7 found other cancer cells that had not even been found yet & killed them off too.

This is all very new but it might be worth you contacting newcastle university (just remember australia not uk!!.
