Q: Infertility. Whay Am I Not Getting Pregnant?

I am a young 20yr wife that has been trying to get pregnant for the last year. When I was 17 I had an abortion at 15 weeks. I started to experience abnormally painful abdominal cramping and irregular periods with clumping about a year and a half after the abortion. I went to a gyn and was examined quite often. I found that I had cysts on my ovaries and an std, high risk hpv. He then decided that I would need a laporoscopy to see if I had endometriosis. After the surgery, he told me that I did not have endometriosis, but that I had scarring and scar tissue all over my reproductive organs and that he had never seen anything like that. He could not tell me why there was so much scarring/ scar tissue. A week after the surgery my husband and I began to try to get pregnant with no result. I have just started to do an ovulation chart, but other than that, my gyn doesn't seem to have any answers as to why I am not getting pregnant. He just says, "i'm sure you are fine, it just takes time." it's been a little over a year now! Do you have any suggestions? Why would I have so much scarring/scar tissue? I am so young and yet, I have all these adult problems.

Concerned and confused,
shannon muller

The scaring comes from if they scraped to much of your uterus. Some people who have had an abortion do have difficulties having children. But dont let this discourage you. I was forced by my father when I was younger to have one. I have had allot of difficulties but I have 5 children now and im preggo with # 6. You might need to go see a specialist though. The reason is you might have to much scaring that they egg can not attach to the wall. Good luck hun

Infetility
Hi my name is keerah and i'm a 21 year old lady who has been trying to have a baby for about a year with no results. I' ve had a miscarriage when I was about 13 weeks. The baby's heart just quit beating. I had a d&c done october of last year, and I caught an infection from the surgery. I bled for about 8 months straight. Finally the doctors stopped the bleeding. But I wasn't having a period and I wasn't ovulating. So I decided to have a diagnostic laparoscopy done the beginning of this month and that's how I found out that I had endometriosis. The doctor went and took out all of the access tissue which was causing me to have endometriosis and I don't have it anymore. Now the doctor has started me on clomid(something to help me ovulate) and progestrone (something to help my period come on every month). So far everything is good and he told me that I was good to go when it comes to having kids.
