Should doctors stop using methotrexate in terminations?

Q: Are Women Dying to Terminate?

The manufacturer of methotrexate warns that althought methotrexate has been shown usefull in the treatment of certian types of cancer and sever cases of arthritis deaths are reported with the use of methotrexate.

Although termination doctors dismiss such concerns because of the low doseage used in terminations other doctors have disagreed.

And the package insert clearly states that toxic effects may be related to freguency and severity of dose but have been seen at all doseage levels.

Is it right to go on using this drug in the pretence of helping the woman improve her situation?

Should women be allowed to die to improve their situation?

I do,nt think so ........ Do you?

Mtx is used for termination in cases of ectopic pregnancies. The alternative is risikier surgeries. Why would you want to prohibit that tool for dealing with ectopic pregnancy?

Ah, you are talking about using it instead of ru486. You are claiming that it is more unsafe in that process than when used for ectopic pregnancies?

Now, I would love to see the evidence of all these women that died from mtx of their ectopic pregnancies or abortions in general (given its rare use).

I believe that it depends on the situation as each situation can be different, as in an abortion.

What riskier than possible death?

I am claiming it is unsafe full stop.

did I say they had died ? Errrm no but if possible death is a reason to end a pregnancy how can you condone the usage of this medication?

It is,nt just terminations that methrotezate is used. The point I am trying to make is that it is supposed to give a better quality of life to the user no matter what it is used for. Is death an acceptible penalty for a better quality of life (bare in mind i,m talking a better quality of life for the mother not the embryo)

Methotrexate attacks the fast growing cells of the trophoblast (the tissue surounding the embryo which later becomes the placenta).The placenta produces hcg(human chorionic gonudotropin) a hormone that signals to the corpus luteurn to continue the production of progesterone necessary to prevent the beak down of the utrine lining and loss of pregnancy.Methotrexate initiates the dissintergrationof this and deprived of food and oxeygen the embryo dies.

How can you now say that methotrexate is not used in terminations doctor? Oh and please stop running from evidence at least be man enough to admit when your wrong.

Lol he,s nothing more than a half wit he asks for evidence and then trys to get away with i,ll answere that next week. Myself I think hes running scared to face the truth and be proven irrevocably that he is the one to lie I mean all the evidence is there but he still says methotrexate is,nt used in first trimester terminations only in ectopic pregnancies. Steen come on man get a grip this drug is killing people I thought you wanted freedom of choice surely you want that freedom of choice to be safe? If not please do,nt pretend you are on here to help women.

I just get pissed off when you all complain about people being on here too much and then when they are gone you bitch and moan that they don't answer quick enough.
