Its like somebody to take care of the kids when the parents cant. I know that my mom is a godmother and she buys my cousin gifts often and stuff like that. Your just the one who baptises them. In spanish they call it nina and nino

That's not the main thing for a god parent....If you're catholic it has nothing to really do with who will take care of the child. A godparent is someone who is going to help in raising the child in the catholic religion, raising them to know what's right and wrong nad what they all need to know about it. God parents can take the child if something is to happen tot he parents, but the parents have a say over there. I have a 16 year old who's the god mother of my child, but in no way ever if something is to happen to me or tim is she going to take my child. Neither will her mother....If anything is to happen, my sister will be taking cole, cause she's more mature. But we had to pick 2 ppl that were in the catholic church to be god parents. :)
