Young Excersizer, Please Reply!!! Posted: 01-05-05 17:41pm
Hi I am a 15 year old sophmore who just
started a few days ago excersizing. I use
to barely excersize at all, but I have
this sudden urge to get fit. Right now I
am doing weights every day, situps
(bycicle situps) every day, and 30 minutes
of excersize running on a machine I have,
which I may increase to 40-60 per day. If
my muscles get sore, I may give them 1 or
two days off to rest. At the moment, im
feeling happy and satisfied with my body
but im having trouble getting a 6 pack
which I want incredibly bad! Is this too
much excersizing for me? Im not sure if I
should shorten my reps of weights and
situps per day (which I happen to do alot)
or if I should decrease time running on
the machine. Someone please help
asap!!!!!!
P.S. Whats the fastest way to get situps?
If u do too much situps or weights will
your muscles not show?

Read and learn. Do research and become
educated.
As for starters, the only way to see a six
pack is to cut back fat. Just lower your
body fat. Make sure you give yourself 2-3
days rest if you are lifting weights and
1-2 for cardio. Just lose weight to get a
six pack.

Hey, I am also 15. That seems like alot
of exercising. (i play soccer (intense) 3
times a week, and try to work out 3 days a
week). You should run for at least 30 min
every sec. Day (every day may be too
much). Also, its more on the reps then it
is on how many you do in a row. Try to do
50 in a row, and do at least 3 sets. (the
last 10 should be hard to do).
Eating fibre helps your abs.
There are a ton of exercises out there!
Reply if you want to talk some more (i'm
kind of rushed right now)
ps: you can work your abs everyday, but
any other "big" muscle you should only do
every second day-1 day of rest

why do you say this. Arent your abd like
every other muscle. If so why would they
not need a rest like everything else.
For all muscle groups lift 3-5 times a
week. Muscles grow when they are resting
and your abs arent any different.

I think they say that about abs (because
i've heard this from gym people as well)
because you are not using the weights like
you would be say with your arms or legs.
Sit ups do not put as much strain on your
muscles. However, if you are doing
strenuous activity that does involve the
abs then it would be wise to rest.

So what would be the reason of working
your abs every day lightly accomplish?
Nothing. Your not working them to recruit
enough muscles fibers for growth so when
you do abs you should work them and give
them rest. They should be treated as
everything else.
