Pains In My Head
I am having the same problem.
Mine started a little over a month ago.
I sat on my bed and bent down on my left side and had a sharp pain on the left side top part of my head. It hurt for a few seconds.
Then the next day it did it again.
Now it does it several times a day. It can last for a few seconds to a few minutes.
It also moves around. Sometimes its on the right side of my head, sometimes it moves to behind my ear, or into my jaws.
I have also been feeling kind of light headed but not so bad. I just feel like I need to not move for a minute and hold onto something till the feeling passes.
I went to the doctor who took my blood pressure and temp, then looked into my eyes and said its stress and put me on fioricet (spelling might be off).
It does not help my head pains though. And the pains are not headaches they are completely different feelings.
I have an apt with a different doctor on march 1st. I hope that they try to figure it out.

Oh I also had a ton of pressure in my head, I felt like there wasn't enough room in there and that my head would pop like a balloon that was over inflated.
Also about two weeks ago when in bed I would wake up at night and could feel my pulse in the back of my head. And the feeling and sound was so loud like someone had the bass and volume of their stereo on the loudest setting and it was beating in my head.
I am glad I am not alone..

My Doctor
I went to my doctor and broke down after reading and posting information here. I explained to her how I was feeling and she asked me how I feel about anti-anxiety meds.

Now I have always been able to handle anything that would come my way but with working full time and trying to deal with everything else, money included (we missed an awful lots of work this past 9 months, since my son became very sick.)

i told her I was willing to give just about anything a try. She said it should help me feel better and eventually the sharp head pains may go away. Well I started on them last night. Hope they help.

Oh ya, she also gave me a scrip for massages.

Thanks for listening,

Hi there! I realize that this post started out quite a while ago. I am no Dr. I suffer a lot with pain, muscle spasms headaches, migranes along with other problems, have you tried topamax? Their was a free trial but I do not know when it ended but it is by prescription only, you might ask your dr and 1st find out if the free trial is still going on, I foud it while checking out the medication on the computer.
Good luck!
I hope it helps! It is not a cheap medication!

Sharp Head Pains
Hello everyone. Glad i'm not alone with these pains. Had them once before and I was sure they were linked with a sore throat I had at the time because when I ate or drank something it would trigger the pain as I swallowed. I also sing in a band and thought I may have scratched or damaged my throat in some way. This time though the pains seem more random and not connected to anything. Got docs on friday so will see what he says. C ya

Short Sharp Pain?
Okay, i've been posting on another thread, but that one doesn't seem too popular, or fit my description of my pains, , I also have been suffering from sharp pains in the back of my head, they are pretty sharp but they only last for a few seconds. I read on some forums and they describe this kind of pain as a iceprick headache. I'm pretty scared because i'm only 16 years old, and everyone else who are having these pains are 30 and older, i've been having it for about 2 months now, at least once a day, and I only notice it when i'm not busy. I am flying to a special neurologist doctor in hong kong in a month or so, what do you all think it is?

Yes, it happens to me every once in awhile starting about a week ago. I sometimes get a sharp pain on the right side of my head behind my eye or back more. It lasts for a second or less and then it's over. No idea what it could be but i'm going to the eye doctor just to be sure it's nothing wrong with my eyes.

Sharp Pains...
The past few days i've been having sharp pains in the right side of my head at the back. It hurts so bad that if i'm standing up I have to sit down or I feel like i'm going to pass out. My vision gets blurry and my hands shake a little. It started when I laid down a few days ago, maybe 2-3 days ago, and my head twitched inside of it. It scared me so I just tried to go to sleep. I have a venus angeomia or whatever it's called that i've had since I was very young. I don't know what is causing the pains but I just know it hurts so bad. It doesn't last very long, maybe 5 secs to a minute. But it's sharp, constant pains that don't last very long. Any ideas about what it might be? I plan on going to the doctor tomorrow.
Things haven't been right since I got braces and an expander. Then my orthodontist turned the expander 6 times in a row and it felt like my head was going to come off! It was so horrible, but i'm only 15 years old and it's really really scary! Esp. Knowing that the thing in my head may be doing something, but my mom thinks it's sinus problems. Maybe due to our new puppy. Also, at the back of my head where it hurts, there is a small knot (which i've pointed out to my doctor) and below that at the very back of my head, above that lump thing above your neck... It's sunk in a little more than the other side, but I think it's been that way for a while. Any ideas? Maybe ice-pick headaches?
Thanks...
Nicole

I just started getting the sharp pains on top of my head. It seems to make my teeth hurt and my ear to hurt on the left side of my face.

I first went to the dentist as I thought I might have a cavity but there wasn't one and he said I might have a sinus infection. I went to my doctor and I do have a sinus infection. I am taking antibiotic but the sharp pain is still there and has been staying longer than the 20 seconds which it was doing at first.

Everytime I get the sharp pain, my whole left side of my face starts aching really bad.

Any suggestions?

Also the Same...
About 2 years ago I fainted a split my head open, got stitches, and was on my way. No problems. I have no idea if these are related, but I get such bad sharp pains usually by my ears or back of the head from time to time. I can go months and months without having them, and then i'll go a week or so having these pains everyday! Just recently I have begun a new cycle! But this time it seems a bit worse. The past 2 nights while i've been sleeping i've had these sharp pains almost every time I breathed that it woke me out of a dead sleep. Today it has been worse, I can't even count how many I had today. They usually happen in bunches, and then subsides for awhile. I've had this for a couple years and have never really thought much of it. I have been also feeling very dizzy, even when laying down, low energy and very tired. I guess I should go to the doctor and see, although after I split my head, I did have an mri and it showed nothing. I also have an appointment with a neurologist on june 8th. I'll just ask him then. I find doctors now a days just rush you out of their office with a quick fix. Let me know if anyone finds any help or answers!

Hello
Hello,

i have been dealing with migraine headaches since I was 12. For the past six or seven years I have been getting sharp pains in my head that sometimes can last up a week. They are not the typical migraines I usually get. One time when I was 17, I literally collasped from it. I had a mri done, and it was found to be nothing. Has anyone else experienced this?

This might be a little to late, but everything that has been said is a sign of neuritis. You might want to check that out.

Sharp Pains?
I too, have been having this sharp pains in my head also in the area around behind my right ear. I don't remember when they first showed up but it was a while ago, but hardly ever occured, often being between maybe months or longer though they were a few seconds longer back then and more intense. Now, they are a bit more frequent but instead are a lot less intense than before and last more briefly like 2-3 seconds.

What worries me is that I am only 15 years old, and i'm wondering if there might be something seriously wrong that I need to get checked out. I'm not one to whine, so I really havn't complained about it to anyone yet thinking it might just be a regular heeadache but getting a little curious wanted to check it out...I'm a little overly obtimistic and usually think that nothing could be severely wrong with me but...Yeah...

Reading here that it may just be a type of headache is kind of relieving..But, on another website when I typed this into google there was also one link with someone experiencing this that had it diagnosed aas a possible anyuerysm (or however you spell it)...The weird thing is that just recently one of my teachers mentioned a freak accident with one of her students that suffered one of these, ended up in a coma, then died... I really am hoping it is less so if more people are experiencing this, please let me know...

Thanks... :)

i've read all comments on this problem and realize I am in great company.

I started getting migraines about 4-5 years ago with no apparent cause. Within the last year I have been under great stress (my 13 year old son had a bleed in his brain and we almost lost him in may 2005). He still has the underlying condition and every day is full of reminders.

I have been getting these stabbing pains that last 5-10 seconds and then move on the other parts of my head. Mostly behind my ears and that also gives me ear aches and sometimes I need to pop my ears. The pains come and go, more come than go. I also get the pain in my sinuses and that make pretty well everything hurt from the shoulder blades up.

I work at a computer all day and can't shake the pain. I don't know how long I will be able to deal before I do go insane.

I only good thing is that all you people have written and it makes me feel better that i'm not the only one.

Hope to all to find relief, and when you do please let me know.

Hmm, this previous weekend I got mine back for the first time in months...

They really don't hurt enough to make me react but are still annoying...I hope mine don't advance like everyone elses..There is a little pressure thugh behind my right eye now and in the right area of the back of my head so I need to have my mom take me to get that checked out...

Either my eyes are getting messed up from tv and computer time, or it might be the headaches...It kinda feels like when you've been reading, or staring at something for a while then look up and have to refocus your eyes though my sight is still perfect...

Anyways, the headaches which weren't that nad yet are gone completely for now...So far, I only worry about it getting worse like everyone elses...It's at least bearable...For now...

Sharp Pains In the Back of the Head
Hello everyone,

i am happy to know that I am not the only one experiencing these sharps pains. I do get them off and on it's been going for about 6-7 months now but here lately I sa within the last two months more frequently and hitting harder. I admit I have been under a lot of stress I was thinking I was experiencing smalls strokes because my face would become tingly and numb sometimes the arm feeling the same way. I'm even experiencing it now and all I can do is take motrin and it take it away for a moment and then the slightest upset I make get it starts to hurt again. What can I do? I haven't seen a doctor since I had my daughter in 2004.

Sharp Pain Right Side of My Head.
I've also been experiencing very sharp pain on the top right side of my head. I'm 46 and felt the first pain right before x-mas. It felt like some one pulled my hair. Since then I get them about once a day with intermitten pressure in the same spot. I've had a CT, MRI and an MRA performed. So far they say that they can not find anything wrong. Overall, I am very healthy and take no prescription medication. I've always been healthy which is why this initially scared me. I'm now adjusting to the fact that they just don't know what's wrong. The neurologist did try Tegeral for the pain; however, it didn't help and made me too sleepy. At this point I'd rather live with the sudden pain then take medication. It's scary...

I Thought I Was Dying!!!
Hello! My name is Cody. I'm 16 years old, and I've been under a lot of stress with school, work, family and friends. I have been experiencing these same Head pains. They usually occur in the front left and right of my head. The pains are accompanied by occasional dizziness and small visual disturbances.(light trails and small spots out of the corner of my eye) Before I saw this forum I thought I was dying of cancer. This is such a relief!
Thanks so much guys!
Very Happy
