Any Help Posted: 12-18-05 06:50am
I have been having these horrible stabbing
pains in the left backside of my head.
They are so bad that they almost make me
cry when they hit. They only last for
about 2 seconds but that two seconds is
enough to almost make you pass out. I
was reading about indocin. Have you
taken this? I am also a 34 years old mom
of four and wonder how the medication will
affect my days with my children. I was
so afraid that something was really wrong
with me. I went through this last year
at this same time and it went away after
about a week or so. Do yours go away
like that? It just seems a bit strange
to me, I mean not normal. I am a
military spouse and do not have the
doctors I would have in the states. So
trying to get them to do what they should
is hard. Any advice on tests or meds for
this?

late, just sudden feeling of pressure in
my head, it happens regularly over the

Does anyone feel any other symptoms like

Dj franco, I have had the same symptoms as
you, I admit it has made me worried it may
be something quite serious, however it
seems quite common amongst many of you. I
usually get it in my right temple but it
sometimes occurs in different points like
the back of my head. It is usually quite
bad around midday and around the evening.
I first began getting it last week and it
has contnued though not as bad now, does
it tend to wear off with time? Thanks for
the advice chaps, its put my mind at rest.

Okay, it's a big relief in a way for me
because I keep getting the same head
pains... It started about a month and a
half ago. My left temple was kinda of
throbbing or something of that sort...
Then I got a pain the back of my head on
the left side.. But the only difference
from you all is that my neck, upper chest,
and upper back hurt... When I bend over
it makes my head hurt worse.. These
aren't like headaches.. They are like
weird sensations of dull pain.. It's not
too painful its more irritating than
anything.. It scares the crap out of me
because I also get like a pain in my
elbows but never both at the same time. I
have only had that pain 2 times. The pain
in my head though is driving me crazy.. I
have been to the hospital, I don'tknow how
many times and they tell me either tension
headaches or muscle spasm's... I'm pretty
sure its not tension headaches.. Like I
said these aren'theadaches.. These are
just dull pains and they don't last they
come and go all day long... Has anyone
had any of my symptoms..
These are the symptoms I have...
Dull pains in head
chest aches, like sore muscles..
Upper back pains
neck pains

Teresa, do your headaches come and go at
different times of the day, or are they
constant. Mine tend to come and go at
different times. It is mainly at times
when my head is under pressure. Please
reply...

Hey, yeahmy pains tend to come and go all
day long. They only last for a few
seconds but the thing is.. They are more
affective during the times i'm up moving
around or sitting to long... Sometimes I
can't sit or stand to long because it
tends to bring them on more. I also can't
bend over alot because it applys pressure
to my head. They haven't been really bad
lately but they are very aggrivating to me
because I get worried and think that I
have a brain tumor or something else
serious.. I am going to try and go to the
doctors very soon and try and get a
catscan.. I also get neck pains and a
pain in the back left side of my head..
My neck hurts in the back and front around
my collar bone... I also get pains in my
upper back area... I do believe it has
something to do with muscle strain because
they tend to be worse the more the day
pass' .... Let me know if you feel any of
these... I also kind of get them if I
cough or something but not alot though..
Just once in a while... Write back.....

I see what you mean, I get pains in my
neck when ever I lie down. The pains
come and go, they are mainly when I am
moving about. The headache is usually
at the temples, but often I can feel
pressure all around my head. It does
not neccessarily hurt really bad, its more
irritating than painful, although I do
wish it would just stop. Also, I see
what you mean about it being muscle
strain, because the pain in my haed and
neck tends to occur in the evening when
i'm resting or siiting down. Let me
know how you get on. Thanks.
P.S does anyone else have these symptoms
and if so, how long do they tend to last?

Hey... Yeah mine is quick pains in my
head through out the whole day but they
come and go its not painfull but its very
bothersome... I don't know what it is but
its driving me crazy and sometimes its
painfull but not umbearable.. I can
handle it but its just worrying me to no
point.. I just dont want it to be
something serious.. My neck and back are
feeling a bit better but I still get pains

I've had the same headaches too. I just
started having it this year. I remember
the first time I had it, I was washing
dishes. The headache lasted a few
seconds but it was very painful. It felt
like being stabbed by something sharp in
my head. I am worried that it might be
something serious.
On and off, I have been feeling that for a
few months now. I told my doctor about
it, but because I was on protonix, it was
a common side effect to have headaches.
But now that i'm done with protonix, I
still have that headache sometimes. I
feel relieved that im not the only one who
experience this kind of headache.

Hi I'm New And I Have These Pains Too Posted: 01-01-06 21:57pm
I get these pains too. Sometime
they're gone real fast and others will
linger there like a buring feeling.
They seem to go off and on all day.
Anyone else feeling like this that can
tell me what's wrong. I get real
scared about it thinking I have a tumor or
i'm dying. I went to the hospital
for a panic attack the other day and they
said my blood work, heart, and oxygen
levels were fine. Does that mean I can
still have something serioulsy wrong in my
brain? If it was something serious
would it have shown up my in blood? I
would like to get a mri but i'm really
scared. I also used to do a lot of
drugs and alcohol when I was in hs, i'm 23
years old now. I just really need some
advice. Please write back.
Thanks

Hi! Posted: 01-02-06 20:22pm
I am on an event monitor now. The
monitor will record when I push it, and I
am suppose to push it when I have an
"episode." my feelings were really light
headed at first and just really hard to
describe, thought I was then having a
heart attack because I think I had a panic
or anxiety attack. Then the last one
before chrsitmas was pain on the side of
my head and numbness in elbows to hands.
Then another panic attack - I think,
thought I was having a heart attack or
stroke after that. The doctor thought
they were stressed related anxiety or
panic, which could cause migranes which
migranes could cause stroke like symptoms.
Now, I fell like my chest is heavy. I
feel like I have anxiety because I am so
worried about these coming, now I worry
when i'm out or that I can't go out an
enjoy myself. I will be having an mri
and mra on wed., and i'm terrified, but I
will feel better knowing they can figure
something out I hope. If anyone else
feels any of these please reply. It's
helpful to read these, thanks. Kim

Hi - teresa120101
i was reading your post based on
headaches. Did your doctor consider the
possibilty of you suffering from
sinusitus? One thing that stood out to me
was that you stated that you experience
increased pain when you bend over a common
symptom of sinustus. I don't know if you
have other symptoms too - such as
congested nose etc.
also did the doctor say the cause of your
elbow pain was muscle spasm too? I get
joint pain - but I am certain mine is
caused by r.A even though I have not had
medical imaging to confirm it.
Take care, hope your symptoms reduce soon.

Stabbing Sensation In Head Posted: 01-13-06 11:56am
Hi. I am new to this web site but this
is what I was looking for. I have sharp
stabbing pain behind my right ear in the
same spot. When it happens, it lasts
just seconds, but it is intense. I got a
migraine on sat and while it is down to
dull throb, it will not go away. Went to
the doc on wed. She sent me for blood
work, & I have to have a mri next
week. I had a tick removed from my head
in this spot 13 years ago. Anyway, the
doc is checking for lyme disease. Has
anyone else been tested for this?
Apparently headaches, muscle aches,
fatigue are just a few of the symptoms.
Does this sound right to anyone?

Quick, Sharp Line of Pain Posted: 01-15-06 21:18pm
I just recently started getting a very
sharp pain on the left side of my head.
It is almost like a jolt, probably for a
half a second. It ususally occurs in a
line, starting from my temple, extending
about 3 inches down my head behind my ear.
I have also been experiencing a slight
throbbing in my left temple. My
boyfriend joked about it being brain
cancer from using my cell phone too much.
I hope not! I am assuming it is from
stress. Has anyone experienced similar
pains?

I havethe same syptoms you do. My back,
neck and sometimes chest hurt with the
head pains. I have been getting them
every day for the past two weeks. They
start as a sharp pain some where in my
head (different locations) and then after
a few seconds chenge to a dull numbing
pain. I get these mostly at night.
Sometimes my neck also hurts with it. I
have had a spinal tap that showed nothing
and an cat scan that showed nothing. I
recently also had an mri hopefully dr has
results tomorrow. They scare the crap
out of me - I am always afraid I have a
blood clot or anursym, or somethiong
really bad. Sometimes they make me
afraid to go to sleep at night. And they
make me very tired. I wish they would go
away so I could have my life back.

I agree with the user using fioricet--it
is a wonderful drug for sharp head pain.
It calms the brain down. I've used it for
the past 4 years.

Sharp Pain And Pressure In My Head Posted: 02-18-06 14:57pm
I've read all comments on this problem and
realize I am in great company.
I started getting migraines about 4-5
years ago with no apparent cause.
Within the last year I have been under
great stress (my 13 year old son had a
bleed in his brain and we almost lost him
in may 2005). He still has the
underlying condition and every day is full
of reminders.
I have been getting these stabbing pains
that last 5-10 seconds and then move on
the other parts of my head. Mostly
behind my ears and that also gives me ear
aches and sometimes I need to pop my ears.
The pains come and go, more come than
go. I also get the pain in my sinuses
and that make pretty well everything hurt
from the shoulder blades up.
I work at a computer all day and can't
shake the pain. I don't know how long
I will be able to deal before I do go
insane.
I only good thing is that all you people
have written and it makes me feel better
that i'm not the only one.
Hope to all to find relief, and when you
do please let me know.

Hi to all! Sorry to hear of your
problems, I do understand where you are
coming from, I get nasty migranes! An
mri is a good place to start. I am no
dr but a few suggestions is sinus
problems, pinched nerves or stress, high
blood pressure, migranes and I would
suggest that you might think of getting
two opinions from two different drs.
Some people that I know of got help
through chiropractic treatments,
acupuncture, massage, reflexology, yoga,
herbs naturopathic meds and remember what
works for some does not work for everyone
else. Also get a complete eye
examination and let that dr know of your
problem.
Good luck to all of you!
