I was wondering if somebody can answer a question for me. Hope you can. See april of 2004 I took my last depo shot because me and my hubsand wants to try to have a baby. The whole I was on the shot spotted which would last for two weeks. My periods was still like that after I stopped taking the shot. Except for last dec. I spotted for two weeks and stopped for about a week and then started back on my period. And it has been alittle heavier sents the first time I started the shot. My question is does anybody know if it is normal for my body to that. Or should I go see a doc. And also if anybody has had the same problem.

I was on depo but when I went off I went directly onto the patch.. From what I keep hearing about depo is that it can take awhile to get back to normal with your cycle and to get the meds fully out of your system even just to get pregnant. It obviously depends on the person.. But it sounds like your body just needs some time to get back on a cycle again. I would say if your still experience irregular bleeding after another month or two then see your doctor about it...

With depo, it is not unusual to take a whole year from you stop it before everything is back to normal. That includes ability to become pregnant.

I only had three rounds of the depo shot, but did not bleed the enitre time I was on it, nor did I start a period for about 1yr after. Many years later I still could not get a normal period even after trying the pill. Because I was trying to get pregnant my doctor tested me only to find out my body was not ovulating. Because I had two pregnancies prior to this (very easy, accidental, conceptions) I believe it was depo which caused this as well as many other side effects. I have read many stories of women who have gone through the same problems as I did with depo, but have also read that the standard is 18 months after your last shot your system should return to normal. Hopefully you are approaching this length and will be able to concieve soon.

Thanks for the help everybody. You have helped more then you know. My last shot was in april of 2004. But I have never had a normal period before I started the taking the depo shot. So maybe the shot is getting out of my system and me and my hubsand will concieve soon. We are really hopeing that we do. We have talked about if something is wrong with me and we can't concieve that we will adopt. But I am still hopeing that we can concieve. But I am going to give us a year or two then if we haven't concieved by then I am going to go the doctor. If not before.
