Hi all!!
My mother aged 56yrs has had spinal fusion at l4-5 and l5s1 with trans-pedicular fixation and nerve root decompression for grade-ii spondylolisthesis 3months ago.

The surgeon is quite happy with the procedure and mobilised her in 3-4 days time, gradually though. She's still wearing a brace.
The problem is that shes still getting pains in her right leg(no more back pain) which gets relieved with mild dose of tramadol. But she hasn't been pain free without medications.

A repeat ct-scan shows the instumentation in place and surgeon says its unremarkable.

I am a doctor(physician) myself and understand it takes about 4months for spinal fusion to complete, but if anyone of you guys have had a similar procedure, I shall be grateful to you if you could share regarding the duration of post-op pain relief.
Thank you.

Re. Postop Pain
Hi, I had a fusion at l5/s1 along with a dynamic neutralisation at l4 approx. 3 months ago and also still have leg pain relieved by tramadol. I saw my consultant yesterday and although my x-ray also looks unremarkable he said it is not unusual to still suffer pain for 6 months and even up to 1 year following fusion.

Also don't be alarmed at the lack of signs of fusion growing as this can apparently take up to 2 years to complete.

Hope this helps, cheers.
