I am 19 years old and for about 5
days(last week or so), I was fatigued.
It got to a point where I was actually the
one that decided to goto the doctor.
They tested me and said I have a viral
infection and it'll just work its course.
A couple of days later they call my house
and told my mother that they found
something bad in my blood work.
Today(12.27) was the follow up
appointment, and my doctor told me that
i've been diagnosed with mononucleosis.
She told me that its also known as "the
kissing disease". I called my girlfriend
today and told her about what happened.
She told me that she never had mono
before. Now, im confused. I work at a
grocery store and im guessing that I got
it there. Another thing is that i've
kissed my girlfriend before i've been
diagnosed. I've kissed her after they
drew blood when I was feeling fatigued and
she is not...Well currently not feeling no
symptoms of mononucleosis.
This whole thing came down as a major
drag. Not that I am diagnosed with mono,
but that I really, really wanted to become
a prizefighter, it was my dream to become
one and now I can't because the spleen can
become enlarged and can become ruptured.
When I came home from the doctor's office,
I immediately looked for information on
the internet about mononucleosis. The
small bump on the back of my neck, the
rash behind both of my knees and that I
was feeling fatigued for that short period
of time are all symptons of mononucleosis.
I am still confused about this whole
thing, so I have a few questions.
Is mono something that you will always
have?
Or is it something that you get diagnosed
with and you get the symptons and it
completely goes away?
Kisses are ok as long as no saliva is
transferred(just kisses on the lips)?
Can mono be passed through during sex?
Another thing is that my girlfriend has an
adorable niece that is about 18 months
old, should I stay away from her until I
no longer have mono?
God bless.

This is a really crappy disease. I was
bed ridden for 6 months, I work at a dr's
surgery and some patients are just tired,
nothing else and their fine after a few
wks. As for passing it on. You are
contageous for a certain amount of time.
I kissed and had sex with my bf before I
knew I had it and he didnt get it. They
can do blood tests to see if it is still
active or not. Message me if you want
anymore info.
