Hi, I have just found this site, I don't know where else to turn, please help? I have been having severe pain in my left back between my ribs and hip for several months now, this morning I could barely move, it would shoot a pain through me. I have been vomiting, extreme fatigue, sweating, shortness of breath and a metallic taste in my mouth during these past months. Last year I went to the Dr. And she ran some test, said that my gfr was at 69 and my protein in my urine was high. Said not to worry. I don't know if I should go to the hospital or not, it's an hour and 45 minutes away. Please help.

Did this doctor do a ct scan of your kidneys looking for kidney stones or cysts?? I'm going through something very similar right now myself. I have excrutiating pain on and off on my left side, protein, and blood in my urine. No one can figure out what's wrong with me, i'm going to a urologist in a few weeks, so hopefully he'll have some answers.
Some more questions for you: do you have lupus?
Do you have a vitamin deficiency? (metallic taste in your mouth)
what kind of medications do you take?
Maybe we can figure this out together. Hope you find relief and some answers soon!

Hi about 2 months ago I experianced all the same symptoms also. I had a high amout of blood in my urine, I had severe pain in my left side and lower back, fatigue and vomiting, chills and all the sudden I would break out in a sweat. Usually my pain would be horrible for about 20 mins and then it would fade and then come back. So finally one saturday my mom took me to the er and they did a ct scan only to find I had a kidney stone. I would recommend you go to a hospital if it happens again. Because I waited almost a month to go and by that time the pain got worse and worse, but on top of that I got a kidney infection and a bladder infection from letting it go on so long untreated. Trust me kidney stones can be dangerous if untreated they can damage the kidneys and bladder which makes the recovery just a worse. But at least if you go to the docter they will give you something for it. I still havent passed mine but they keep bumping up my pain meds to sustain the pain and in all honesty if it is a kidney stone you will soon realize how bad you'll want pain meds. Good luck to you

Lower Left Pain
Hi-
tonight I started having a shooting pain in my lower left back. My first thought was a kidney stone, but the pain is not horrible. It comes and goes and only last for a couple of seconds- but is very regular. (think child birth contractions.) i'm worried. Anyone know what's going on?
