I know that labor hurts, but im most afraid of the epidural. I have alot of piercings, but I seen on tv they use what it looks to be a big needle. Any of you that have had them are they horrible feeling? Ive heard there nothing compared to the pain your already in, but still a big needle in my back, ah!

You dont know how happy your post made me. I feel like you just took away all the scaredness. A small prick was the best was ive ever heard it described. And I was thinking, I knew guys that got suspended buy hooks in their backs for fun, so an epidural should be nothing.

Lol sweety don't worry about it. You'll probally be too focused on your contractions to even feel the epidural ;) it's really nothing though. I'm sure you're labor will go great, goodluck hun.

I always watch a baby story on tlc, and special delivery and birth day on dhlth, and I guess I always see the bad ones, cause everything always goes wrong, but this one lady went natural, she screamed and cried, and when it was all done she said that her iv's hurt more than the laboring and pushing. I was like what?? I dont think those shows prepare me, I think they scare me even more.

The epidural is nothing! And even it if it was, you definitely would not care!!!! Trust me, the pain of your contractions are soooooo much worse than any pain a shot could cause you! You don't even feel the needle at all! Halfway through my epidural I asked the anesthesiologist when he was gonna start.

And about the iv's....I was the same way. After its over you don't remember the pain anymore...But the iv pain stays with you for awhile.

Lol don't worry!! The .I.V is ten times worse than the epidural! Man my epidural saved my life!! Once you start laboring, you'll beg for one!

I wasn't hooked up to an i.V. And I didn't have an epidural. I went completley natural and didn't scream at all, but cussed a little and cried a little. When it was over it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I watch all those birth day, and a baby story and it freaked me out! I wouldn't worry about it!

The epidural just feels like a bee sting..Well it did for me anyway and it can also cause a contraction but I didn't get one since well..If you know my story then you'd understand why. But yeah it's not as bad as some of those medical shows make it out to be..Like erin said, the iv is much worse.
