Q: Mid Back Pain

I have mid back pain that is burning in nature and feels like a tight band across my back. It comes and goes and radiates around to my lower abdomen. Sometimes it hurts into my ribs also.

I had an mri which was negative. Could muscular strain be the cause of this type of pain? I've had it off and on for a long time.
