I have the same issue. i also believe that it might be bacterial overgrowth, specifcally candida. most of our
intestinal problems are due to an imbalance of intestinal flora.

I have had a pain below my left rib cage for months now. I always seem to get it everyday around 3pm and it lasts about two and a half hours. Its always at the same time no fail. I haven't gone to the doctors because I don't want to spend a lot of money if they can't figure it out. In most cases here it seems that way. Im not sure if its just gas and maybe if its something im eating. I workout almost everyday and I tend to eat the same thing everyday. I don't know if its from drinking a soda at lunch or if it is some food allergy I have that I don't know about. It makes me feel like i'm going to pass out sometimes. I just want it to go away!! Sad

I have been dealing with some of the same symptoms stated. My pain feels like a cracked rib, and also there is an area right next to my mid-lower left rib cage that is "clicking" when pressed on. The pain I would describe as Throbing. It really hurnts when I am driving or sitting in an upright position. Has anyone experienced this?

i have the same pain. apparently its under my rib cage, and rapidly keeps coming and going. sometimes it even wakes me up at night, and i cant sleep! when i lie on my stomach the pain seems to go after a while, or when i eat something. i thought the pain was due to me being hungry, as it goes after i have eaten my meal. im 15 years old, and this pain has trapped me for months now. i really dont undertsand what it is, as my health is well. when i take a deep breath the pain sort of disapears.
i go to school, and this pain strikes me in lessons, i cannot concentrate on my work due to this, and just recently this pain started to make me feel sick.

also the pain is like something stabbing me, its kind of like a stitch aswell, like when you run.but as i breath in it tends to go, the moment i breath out its back again. it is also sort of burning...
first i thought this was due to exercising without warming up, but i realized it wasnt that. i also thought it was acid pain, which before hand my brother also suffered.

i havent used any medication, or visited a doctor, thinking its a normal pain. but it started disturbing me too much to resist. but i just cant handle going....

is there any advice? what could this be?
thank you Smile

I am 48, maybe 30 lbs overweight, smoke, and have had two of my 3 brothers die from lymphoma and liver cancer. My other brother just got rid of cancer on his kidney. I have physical exams every year and my doc is quite sensitive to my family situation. Had a physical in January, all basically well.

About a month and a half ago, I woke up to go to work and noted what felt exactly like a pulled muscle "behind" or under my lower left rib cage. It has not gone away. Now, sometimes I feel nothing, but other times I will feel a "presence" of something "extra" pushing at my rib area bottom left. The pulled muscle feeling is gone but at strange times it will hurt a little when I reach for something or turn a certain way. Not a problem at all when playing hard racquetball, just strange seemingly inconsequential movements.

I am somewhat relieved to read a few of these posts which sound like my experience. I play racquetball and exercise off and on, sometimes regularly, sometimes not. Decent diet.

Wonder what it is. Last time (a decade ago or more) I had a sensation like this (a "presence" in my right groin/belly area) I was SURE it was lymphoma. So I went to the doc and he told me if I lost weight, I would probably lose the "presence." This proved to be true.

I just keep waiting for this to go away!

Same thing, I call it the "alien" living inside me (Pa
I am going through the same thing it hurts when I move and get's worse at certain times. I also feel fuzzy, out of it, have stomach pain, gurgling, and feel like there is something living inside me. I call it the "alien". I am hungry all the time and completely out of it and am extremely under weight and have been depressed, lethargic, and extremely moody. I have been getting sick a lot for quite some time. I have blurred vision, itchy skin, nose sores and I don't retain information like I used to. All I have to say is it is nice to know other people feel the same way I do and DO YOUR RESEARCH. Doctors only get a small list of what your symptoms are and they attribute it to diseases and disorders that western medicine created to account for the symptoms of parasites. I am not a doctor, an expert or an advocate for anything. I am a person who has been in a lot of pain and feeling like I am crazy searching for answers. My doc started me on antibiotics for my third kidney infection in the last year which has provided some relief but I know there is still something inside of me. Don't think that becasue you live in a developed country you are immuned. I am always in lakes tubing, wakeboarding, and skiing and with the increase of travel around the world we are all in each others backyards. I know it is not my kidneys and something else is causing the kidneys to malfunction. Western medecine doesn't always find or diagnose these nasty little creatures. So instead they came up with things like GERD and IBS & even several psychotic disorders (the list goes on) to account for the symptoms. In all reality it is something living inside you eating away at your much needed resources causing pain and anxiety. I have been researching this for over a month and every symptom I have is right on. Tell your doctor to check you, but note that a lot of them go undetected and start a cleanse or diet change immediatly. I am waiting for my results of my poo sample (you have to do it gross...)if you want to try to find out. This only finds a small percentage but I will keep you posted. I am about 95% sure that's what's going on. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY.....Trust your vibes, there really is something inside of you, do your research.

Hello everyone. I've read many many post here and have similar pains. I went to a hospital here in China where I live, which for a Canadian is scary. This is what I was diagnosed with after getting an ultrasound and Fluoroscope. Fatty liver, inflamed gallbladder, chronic gastritis, intestinal dysfunction and gastric muscosal hypertrophy. Got some pills for cleansing liver and gallbladder and one pill a day for stomach. I have no idea what they are though.

Pain under lefrt rib cage-no doctor can tell me what's wrong
I, too, have had many of the same symptoms as Moose4882 and I have been to many doctors over the last 2 years and they all shrug their shoulder. My gastro guy said "I give up - I don't know what it is." So I was dismissed. All of my symptoms started after I had a vegetable pita from an Arabic food store - God only knows what was in the sandwich (but it was good). I will look into these "aliens" living inside. It happens to animals and that is why all baby animals after they are born are given a dewormer to get rid of the worms. I think I'll do my research and see where I can get one of these tests, too. Thanks. You would think with all of us out here complaining of all of these same symptoms that the doctors would have some kind of a forum and compare notes. I'm really weary of going from doctor to doctor and they can't tell me anything. I get brushed off as a middle-aged crazy lady. When you start listing your symptoms, their eyes glaze over as they think of what pill that can give you to make you go away. I'm going to look into those colon cleanse products and see what happens.

Same Pain
I am having the same pain for the last week and a half. It started as what felt like an upset stomache and then I got sharp pains around my left rib cage and sometimes moving towards my back. I went to the doctor today and she felt around my stomache and pushed on my ribs. She told me I have done something to my rib which is why its tender but she also told me it could be my gull bladder. I have some blood work done and have to go have an ultrasound.
I am hoping this is only my ribs (what the cause is I have no idea) and not something worse.

I am having pain under my left rib cage and it feels like my rib cage is being pushed out from the inside. The pain radiates up my left chest and down my left arm. When this starts I have to lay down and wait for the pain to go away. Why is this happening to me?

left ribcage pain
The cartilage under my left rib cage seems to feel like "i can move it around". Like if i push and prod at it, it rolls around the lower rib. if i do it enough, sometimes the sharp, stingy pains will radiate to my upper chest and even my back around my shoulder blade. I get constipated occasionally, when that starts, it feels like my intestinal tract that loops downward (clockwise) under my left ribcage, spasms violently. then the pains are at their peek. anti-inflammitories offer little relief. usually ill put an ice-pack on that area, and it sooths for a short period.

pain in rib cage under breast/left side
My pain just started a week or so ago, but I was running at least 5 miles daily. It does feel like a knot under my rib cage. After reading everyone's reply, I don't think I am going to see a DR. I think an anti-inflamatory will be good and I was drinking at least 2 glasses of wine a night due to family in town also. So, I am not going to take it serious and hope it goes away. Thanks to everyone who replied--it helped ease my mind.

I think I'm experiencing the same thing?
I get pain along my left side, sometimes between my navel and hipbone. It varies from mild to severe, to a dull gnawing ache that comes and goes, and sometimes feels better after I've eaten.
Sometimes, it lasts for days.
I got it two nights ago (the pain), and it's been off and on repeatedly all that day, the next day, and today. It got so bad I couldn't sleep.
It feels like it's under my rib, or like something's moving. I've been researching, and I'm convinced it's just irregular bowel movements, or one of the following:
Gastritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Diverticulitis or a stomach ulcer (Peptic ulcer). I'm not really sure what to think of it, but it's been on and off since atleast September 2008.
It can't be my spleen, because it doesn't feel enlarged. And I'm pretty sure my kidneys function properly, and that I just don't get enough fiber in my diet.
But I've been changing my diet some and nothing's really improved. I'm thinking of going to the doctor.
Also, I'm a fifteen-year-old girl, so I shouldn't be having too much problems? It's all in the left quadrants of my abdomen.

Rib lump/pain
I have been having this same issue for over a year now. I have a lump under my ribcage causing my ribcage on my left side to protrude outward. The pain started in the rib area, some days it would be okay and others it would hurt to even breathe. Eventually this issue caused me to have pain up through my chest. The lump and the pain is still there after three doctors and antibiotics. One doctor told me that I poked at it too much and that it would go away in a couple of days. This was obviously not the case, as it is still here today. Another doctor gave me what was the most reasonable answer of all, he told me it was inflamation and prescribed me antibiotics. Unfortunately these did not work and he had me go get an MRI done. When I got the MRI, that doctor told me that he couldn't find anything and that I was just born with it. This was not the case either because I would have noticed it before I was 16 years of age. It has been a year since I have been to any doctor for this condition. I'm frustrated that none of the doctors could find an answer. I'm tired of having cramp-like and sharp pains under my rib cage and sharp, burning pains through my chest. If anyone has any answers or input, I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

Similar Pain In Lower Left Side Under Ribs
I don't think mine has anything to do with acid, and I never have any problem as far as bowel movements. I do however have a nagging pain below my left ribcage in the back. It feels like I have a softball in my side and it hurts constantly, but not any worse or better when I move or breath. I thought it might be a rib, but it is actually below the ribs and I'm concerned that one of my organs might be swollen? It is very uncomfortable and, right now, very painfull. My friend suggested my posture (sitting wrongly) might have caused it. But I don't believe that is the cause. I can't afford a doctor right now, I'm starting college this fall. Are there any symptoms related to the pancreas? My friends mother was just diagnosed with Pacreitis (sp?). Very concerned.

pain under left rib
I am also feeling that same pain on left side behind rib as well and also feel it in my collar bone/shoulder area??. This is the second time it has woke me up at night into morning. Pain went away after takin 2 ibprofin after a couple of hours the first time. This second time pain has been all day. It does feel better to keep ribs expanded or lay on right side but no meds have worked this time??

On another note...I had a ultra sound on liver gall bladder pancreas ect and an upper gi which they did find an ulcer in the duodenal and have been taking prilosec for acid reduction... But for the most part i was still getting more than normal amounts of gas and pain around belly button area that was painful to touch. I was getting zits still and my hair on arms and face had changed slightly(thank god there blonde) im only 24/female! None of the doctors i went to could connect the dots for even these problems so i looked up hormonal imbalance went and got on a birth control called yasmin that has a anti androgen blocker and stomach pains, gas, foods that bothered me which were dairy and salty foods Have decreased sooo much!!! I DONT GET IT can a hormonal Imbalance really cause all those problems even with food?... Ive only been on YASMIN for a week and it has changed most of my stomach problems. I would advise male or female to get hormones checked!!! as for the pain under rib im stumped!!!!

Pain under back left ribcage
Thanks Jade ^.^ I might check into that. I've never been on any medication or birth control. I wouldn't know what would cause it. I'm doing better today, but now that you mentioned the abdominal pain, I had severe cramping around my belly button area one morning, it didn't last for too long. I don't think it's related, but it hurt pretty bad Smile I hope it's just hormonal, it could be fixed with estrogen pills probably. I was also concerned that it might have something to do with my apendix or possibly ovaries? Smile I'm not a doctor but I'm interested in hearing a second opinion. I haven't been to see a doctor and was kinda hoping to avoid it while I'm focusing on starting school next month ^.^
