Pain Under Left Rib Cage (Page 10)

Left rib cage pain
If the pain you are expeirencing is under the lowest left rib this is where a membrane is attached to the rib and supports the elbow in the colon. Antibiotics destroy the good flora in the bowels. This slows down digestion causing pain in the rib area. Try probiotics to restore the flora and high fiber low fat diet. Drink plenty of water. Don't eat late or before you go to bed. Try Aloe juice to combat acid reflux that can form on an empty stomach. Your pain should pas if you are regular.

I am having this pain too
For me it hurts all around under my ribs, just about 1 1/2 inch's above the belly button, more on the left side. This dose not happen often, and it almost feels like acid reflex, but lower.
Feels almost like when i get gas pains but only more upper then lower. I'm guessing its (adomanal pains), I woke up and it started and hurts like somethings in their pocking around from time to time, and when I move around it hurts more. The pain makes me want to strech or move to try and get it to stop hurting, Then it worsens. What do you think this is?

P.S if this helps I went hiking 7 hours before this happened.

Could this possibly also be a sympton of pluracy (inflammation of the lung lining) or , not sure of spelling, costocondroitus, inflammation of the ribcage. ?? both come on suddenly may require antibiotics and some paion meds and a couple of weeks to run the course.

pain under left rib
I have just googled this as I have been experiencing pain under left rib for the last few months. What I noticed on the forum that quite a number of people mentioned exercise. I go to the gym 3 times a week and play tennis 4 - 5 times a week and wondered if it had anything to do with exercise. I notice if I eat a lot it can get worse, but it doesnt last that long but still a nuisance. Worred it was a tumour or something (I am a worrier so perhaps we have exercise and worry in common!) Pain in Left Side by rib cage = Stomach Ulcer
Hello all, I have had the same symptoms. At first it's a dull pain in my left side, that somtimes migrates to my left shoulder. It's a stabbing pain that goes from a one to ten. I have gone to the emergency room twice and the doctors said I was fine x-rays and blood test come back normal. No blood in my stool. They gave me ibuprofen, big mistake! After another two weeks of pain and the stress of not knowing what was wrong, a friend recommended a great doctor here in LA, I went to see him and after five minutes he told I had a stomach ulcer. He prescribed me Pepcid, no dairy, no spicy food, no stress. Been fine so far. Hope this helps.

A simple blood test can measure for white blood count in relation to this virus. It causes the system to be very acidic. Many ulcers are caused by this virus. A regement of anti-biotics are taken to get rid of it...however, many strains are resistent.

Mystery Solved (for me)
I had the same pain described in many of these posts--a sharp pain just behind my bottom left rib. I had it for over a year. It didn't seem to matter what I ate, but sometimes it felt like it was stomach related--I'd feel bloated and gassy sometimes. I had a CT, an X-ray, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy--no dice. It was diagnosed as all kinds of things, but no treatment helped. I finally went to a chronic pain clinic, and I couldn't believe it when the doctor said, "Oh, yeah. I may know what that is." Turns out I have abdominal trigger points. The physical therapist gave me a massage, pushed on my trigger points, and my pain was about 75% gone. After two months of that treatment I am pain free.

Apparently abdominal trigger points can mimic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, spleen trouble--all kinds of stuff. Just google "abdominal trigger point symptoms" and see if any of it sounds familiar.
Sure hope this helps somebody. Good luck.

Pain on the left side of the ribs
I've had this issue for a couple of years and it is very annoying. I'm beginning to accept it. This thing pops in and out, I can make it pop in and out at will. I could probably make music with the popping noise. It doesn't hurt, but everyday I think to myself that I'm growing old and stiff. I have also thought that I'm rotting inside like others have said in their replies.
I believe that this issue is due to the lack of usage of the left side of the body, the least dominant side of the body.
If there are any left side dominants out there, please prove me wrong.

lower rib pain
My pain has been on the left side right at the base of my rib cage. It almost feels like it is the bone, but then sometimes it feels like a muscle or tissue is associated with the rib. Confused about it. I was treated for an ulcer back in October and it was my understanding that once you get rid of the H. Pylori bacteria in your intestines the ulcer will clear up. Also, you are not suppose to get an ulcer after taking the antibiotic for 21 days.

l lower rib pain
I have had a persistent dull ache on the left side of my body at the base of my rib cage. It almost feels like my rib cage has a knot on the base of it that is sore. I can't figure out if there is tissue connected to it or not. The pain is not always at the same spot but seems to move an inch to the left or right. Does anyone else know what might be causing this? I always think the worse.

Me too
I have the same pain and it even protrudes to my back (mid left side)
I saw my family doc and she ran bloodwork and said I am fine just blood in urine.

When I sit it hurts worse and I can barely eat because when I do it hurts awful.

pain lower left side under rib
I had started this towards then end of my bought with bronchitis. which I never had before and what my doctor called it, after he ruled out swine flu. I do not smoke or drink and I am a hiker. I noticed allot of similar symptoms here. dull pain to sharp, to driving thru from front to back, burning, twitching, hard knot feeling, bloated, yes I have been having them. saw two doctors, blood tests, xrays, they have guess from a bacterial infection, to a muscle pull to IB to some kind of virus. non of thier acid reducer, muscle relaxer pills help. Only heat does. it isn't on my rib but up underneath it feels like. I have had a kidney stone before, it does not feel like this. anything can set it off, food, stress, pressure, activity, it never really goes away. isn't it funny how our so called educated doctors and all our hi tech tests cannot seem to find out what's wrong or cure us. It fakes us out, we think it is going away and comes back. I am thinking maybe, pollution related, contaminated water, food products, look at all the food recalls, from plastics to metal being in our stuff... and what about bio-terrorism? make all the Americans too sick and in pain to fight back, infect the nation. It is just plain ODD, that no tests show anything, Doctors are grasping at straws.. and these symptoms can be so many things, yet most of us are still not properly diagnosed or cured. It could be as simple as something we are ALL consuming.. maybe in water, in soda, in milk? or eating, or breathing.. I dunno..why are so many of us suffering and all the doctors and tests are just a waste of money?? and yes Stress and Depression will make anything worse..duh! but that is NOT the cause. I think the FDA needs to start testing ALL our beverages and food products for contaminates. We have already had baby formula recalls, pet food recalls, even medicine due to metallic pieces, all this can cause terrible havoc on our bodies and whether it is just because of a lack of quality control or intentional..the medical community needs to start thinking outside the box, because this problem is very widespread all over the internet forums, and any time you have something invading you body, flaring up organs and intestines, these can cause damage to things and appear to be a disease, but I think there is a bigger picture here. something...is contaminating our bodies and raising havoc, maybe not deadly, however it could be after damaging organs after time, because if you read all these and others, our symptoms are 75% the same but we all are blaming it on different activities etc, strange so many people are getting this and no real answers, but what is it we ALL do that is the same...??? we EAT and DRINK. and we all are getting pain in the lower left rib area. my doctor probably thinks I just want drugs, since tests are showing nothing, and I hate medicines period and I am not regularly on anything, but occasionally due take headache medicine. but this pain has made it nearly impossible to sleep, work, or relax. it is REAL. and I cannot afford any more tests with no conclusions. This is STUPID.

more left side pain/burn
these are all great posts, but my issue is a bit different. the chronic pain i have in my left rib cage is also 'hot' or feels like an 'indigestion burn'. It's continually there, not sore to touch, just feels like a bit of burning pressure and localized to like the last rib and such. Anyone else? Do any medical experts ever reply to these posts?
