Q: Chance of Getting Aids?

Almost 2 months ago, I gave a girl a nice massage. I even massaged her genital area. I heard a rumor just recently that she has the hiv virus. I didnt wear gloves, but my hands were covered in body lotion. My hands rubbed the surface of her genital area until she said stop. I washed my hands after, not touching anything else but the doorknob. The only tiny openings I might hae had, were on the back of my fingers near the nail beds. If she does have hiv, was I at any risk of getting it? I never had sexual intercourse or oral sex with her.

Ever Heard This Situation Before
Thanks, I feel better now. But has anyone else ever been in the same situation as me and transmitted the hiv virus that way?

I wouldn't worry too much as the casual transmission of hiv is even more ineffective that by sexual means (see response to hiv poll below.)

Im Feeling Better Now
I'm feeling better now that I was probably not at any risk at the time. I found out that she has genital herpes. Thats an std that cant be transmitted in a casual way. So I know that I dont have it, since I didnt have oral or sexual intercourse with her. But does that mean that theres a smaller chance that she has the hiv virus?

Not really as it has been proven that the transmission of such stds is much more effective than the casual transmission of the virus that is associated with the condition known as aids.

Well...
Well... She might have aids right now. But I havent gotten the symtoms of aids yet, and if she does have it, then I was at risk of getting it the casual way when I massaged her. She wasnt bleeding at the time and I after she told me to stop rubbing, I went to go wash my hands with soap about 30 seconds later. I did not reach inside of her vaginal area. So was there possibly any of her body fluid on my hands after I stopped? And was it a big or small risk?

Anything is possible, the best thing to do is to be tested. Their are some silent symptoms at 1st and this is not something you want to spread around, think of the body fluids.
Sincerely,
sandy

While it is true that anything is possible, the probablility of contracting the hiv virus is very slim for this type of contact, in fact its very slim from traditional sexual activity with someone who is infected....

New Info
It just came to my mind today that the last time she got a physical exam was in august. She got blood extracted from her finger for testing. And I was told that she has genital herpes, but nothing was mentioned about her having aids. After that, she wasnt together with anyone until sometime after I gave her that massage(i wasnt together with her, it was just a massage). Now, can that kind of blood test be used in a hiv and/or genital herpes test?
