Q: Headaches? Help

I just started ortho-tri-cyclen and I began to get headaches my second day on the pill... It's now my fourth and it will ease off, and then come back. I toss and turn from the pressure on my head when I lay down. Tonight it isnt too bad, i'm thinking of giving it the week to get used to the new hormones, and go to the doctor if my head aches still occur. Has anyone else gotten this side effect? And if so, how long did it last? And how did you help ease the pain? I am trying to stay away from meds, but I have taken 3 in total, ibuphrofen. Thanks for any help!

I have been on ortho for a few months now. I never experienced headaches when I began it though.

If this is your first time on the pill, it could be your body adjusting to the hormons. Most doctors will tell you to stick with one pill for 3 months as to give your body the time to adjust.

The only problem you could have with taking excessive ibruprofen is your period can be thrown for a loop when it arrives. Ibruprofen acts a blood thinner in your system.

When in doubt, call your doctor-good luck!

Thanks so much... I know that it's that exact reason. My body is experiencing all these new hormones, and I need to give it time. It's not so bad anymore. I still feel "something" but its not throbbing or enough to take any meds! I am a new user, and its all so new to me. I love being able to come into these forums... Thanks again,

Thanks!!
Thanks nikki,
it's great you to help me out. I haven't experienced dizziness though, thank goodness. I am in university, and I started the pill cause now its free for me with my blue cross... Me and my bf have sex so in that way its really safe. I just don't like the side effects. I don't feel human or something... It's difficult to explain. Things are looking better though! Thanks for any help!
