I recently joined a ladies fitness club and am doing circuit training for about 40 min per day. I do weight training and cardio together. I have heard from some fitness experts that you should always wait at least one day in order to let your body rest before your next workout. Others have said you should continue working out everyday. I'm trying to lose weight and become overall more healthy. Should I be working out every other day? Confused

You should wait a day in between your weight training. But you can do your cardio as often as you like. Make sure to rest at least one to two days a week. Let me correct myself, if you are weight training different muscle groups every day, then there is no need to take a break. For example if you do your upper body one day and then your lower body the next day, you will give your muscles enough time recuperate, but if you are doing only your lower body every day, then your muscles will not have time to rest and you will not build your muscle as you should be. I hope I could help. Good luck!

I go to curves. What if I went everyday?

What does happen to you if you work hard everyday?

I just want to get rid of the "pudge" and keep in shape.

You can work out every day, if you would like. You don't need to, though. 4-5 days a week is a good idea, it gives your muscles their time to build. Like I said before when you are weight training every day, make sure you give yourself a day in between each muscle group you are working out. Good luck!

this sentence right here is the key. You want to lose weight and become overall more healthy. In your case, working out daily, or a 5 day split throughout the week will be most effective. Rest days are for muscle synthesis.. (resting while your muscles rebuild, grow bigger, and stronger). In your case, you don't necessarily need that rest day if you're doing proper circuit training. (light weight, many reps). Don't forget to finish your workout with some cardio as well. :)

hi guys, im new to this forum and im very impressed with the knowledge you guys have of bulking up e.t.c. i also started workin out bout 1yr and half ago, i worked out for about a yr just using a chest expander, rowing machine and doin press ups, the results were suprising i widened found an increase in chest muscles (pecs) and shoulders, however my arms were not that big at this stage so i started doing some wieght training started at about 12kg and slowly increase dthis to about 20kg as my strenght increased. Now i can see my biceps have got mor toned and my bicep muscles are not round football shape but longer and thicker but i try work out once every so often, i do about 3 reps of 20,20,15 of each arm then i take soya protein shake, does anyone have any advice for me on how to improve on this, i am 16, 6 ft 2, around 170 pounds
