Ive been bleeding for a week now. At first it was kind of light with a lot of brown and was on and off at times. Now for the last two days it has gotten heavier (dark red) and it looks as if I have my period, but I dont. Im not due till next wednesday and I dont have any cramping or bloating. Im on ortho tri cyclen lo and I have spoken to my gyno this week and she said its just breakthrough bleeding (she also thinks maybe the paxil is somewhat interffering with my estrogen, but shes not sure) she also took a urine and culture test and they came back neg. So I dont have an infection. She is switching my pills to ortho tri cyclen. She said I could skip the placebo's and just start taking those, but im not going too because I dont want to mess up my body even more. My breast are swollen and my lower back is killing me (like they do the week before my period), but my breasts dont hurt (normally hurt a to some extent) and aren't as swollen, but drs. Have told me paxil reduces pms symptoms, so im guessing thats causing that. I have been more tired this week, which is natural when pmsing but I also think its from bleeding for a week straight (period only last 3 maybe 4 days).

Does this kind of breakthrough bleeding sound normal?
I had an abdominal and pelvic ct scan done yesterday, so im guessing if anything is wrong it will show up.

Seriously, you need to calm down... If your doctor didn't freak out about it then you're fine. Probably a combination of all the other meds you're on and the low dosages of hormones in the ortho-lo are causing the bleeding.. I know when my friend started using ortho-lo she bled straight through her first pack, one period to the other.... It happens, it's normal, so don't worry so much. Worrying a lot about these things is only going to make it last longer and seem worse than it is.

You should add come chill pills into your daily pill routine Laughing

p.S. You should also just follow your doctor's advice in going right into the new pack of pills... Doctor's generally know what they're talking about... They did go to schools for these kinds of things Wink
