My Dr. Did a blood test for h. Pylori bacteria after I went to her with my symptoms. Several episodes of severe upper stomach pain which radiated into my back (especially after consuming alcohol), sour stomach, loss of appetite. Turns out I have the bacteria and now she's offering anti-biotic treatment. What i'm wondering about is if I need some other tests done first to confirm that I have an ulcer or should we just assume that I have one since I have symptoms and the bacteria that causes them???? She's telling me that the treatment is pretty aweful but it's only for two weeks. If anyone has had the treatment or has a suggestion about my diagnosis i'd appreciate your input. Thanks.

I had a bleeding ulcer caused by h pylori. The treatment was extremely awful. I was sick day and night. However, I would say take it. I never noticed my symptoms... And I passed out at work. Was in the hospital for a week and had to have two bloodtransfusions. It is nothing to play with. I would have gladly sacrificed the two weeks of being sick to avoid all of that... It was a scary thing.
