Hey guys, im new here. I just have a question. My girlfriend has been on the patch for about 4 or 5 months or so and has now switch to the pill because she would expeirence breakthrough bleading. She did not give any break time in between the patch and the pill, she went right to the pill, im not sure what week of the patch she was on when she went to the pill, she could have been at the end of the cycle or she might not have been. Well since she started taking the pill she hasnt gotten her period. She finished the 3 weeks of it, took nothing for the week she is supposed to have her period and now jsut started taking her second case of pills for the second month. And she hasn't gotten her period yet, we havent had sex in about 4-5 weeks and the time that we did have sex I used a condom and she was still on the patch, and the condom did not break, and everytime we did ever have sex, we used a condom as well with the patch. Im just one of those guys like most who freak out to make sure their girlfriend is not pregnant. So is this normal?? Please help. Thanks alot.

She may want to call a doc, but I imagine that the switch screwed up her hormones and it may take a few months for her period to get regular again. However, i'm not sure about the switch, so it may be possible that when she switched to the pill it may still take awhile to be fully working and if you didn't use extra protection for a couple weeks, she may have gotten preg. I doubt this though, but she should call her doc to double check the effects.

Yeah I knew that when she switches to the pill it might take a few weeks before the pill would take effect, so we have not had sex since she has been on the pill. The last time we had sex was about 4-5 weeks ago, and she was still on the patch.

Then I would say it's prob. Just her hormones all confuzzled form the switch. If she goes 2 weeks late though, have her get tested for preg. Good luck
