Q: Possible Tinnitus Or Something Else?

I've done some small research on tinnitus due to the below problems I seem to have every month or two. I'm a 21 year old male, and for the past 10 years or so i've been having this "rhythem" in the back of my head that can randomly pop in unexpectedly. Rarely will music get rid of it because I can typically still hear it no matter what the vocal/instrumental changes are.

Because of the fact that it doesn't happen all the time (as posted above every month or two for about 2 hours), I wouldn't really worry about it... The problem that gets me is the effect it has on my mind and body. It causes me to become extremely frightened. I feel a sudden rush of fear run through my entire body and does not go away until the rhythem has subsided which doesn't last less than an hour, and no more than two.

In 2002 and 2003 I had four seizures which have only caused the rush of fear to highten. I've spoken to my doctor about this, and he nor the neurologists have found anything that could be causing it. The last time it happened (before tonight), I went into the hospital during the time it was happening, the doctors wanted me too come in to run tests, and they found nothing wrong (even while I was still having the noises).

I guess what i'm asking is could this be tinnitus? I know tinnitus has to do with noises, but would the fear put it into a different "disorder?"

I have tinnitus, too. For me, it's a faint, constant ringing that's there behind everything. I don't associate fear with it, but I used to have hallucinations as a kid where (and I think the tinnitus is somehow linked) everything sped up around me, and when I'd have in while asleep, there'd be this overwhelming rhythm over it all that terrifies me. It was just so intense that I had no control at all and was at the mercy of this - whatever it was. Bt in listening to my tinnitus, I noticed that I cycles through two or three tones, and the ringing makes the same rhythm, or maybe a better word is intensity, that the hallucinations did.

I also have Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. Does any of this help?

I don' t think what you have is life-threatening, coming from a person who knows about fear and tinnitus and has lived about a decade with it. I'll check back on this thread, so let me know if I can help.
