Period But Still Pregnant???
Posted: 10-21-03 13:06pm

My husband and I have been ttc for two months. I got off the pill in august. My period came early with three days of brown spotting before hand. It was only heavy for one day then spotting the rest. Now I am off but I am still really bloated. I have a few other symptoms. Should I take a test or just wait another month???

Dear babystarks,

it may take some time for your period to return to normal after coming off the birth control pill. It may be late, early and even heavier or lighter than usual, your body now has to function on it's own without the help of the pill to control your period. Some women find it takes quite a while to become pregnant after stopping birth control, others seem to fall pregnant immediately after, everyone is different. I fell pregnant 3 months after stopping birth control, and I had been on the pill for 13 years prior to that. So I consider myself very lucky. You could take a test if you feel you may be pregnant, it certainly won't hurt, and would definately give you piece of mind if nothing else.

Good luck and I hope you are pregnant very soon...

Suzy

Thanks for replying. I did take the test. Negative. I already knew that but wanted to make sure. You are right about my body getting back to normal. Hopefully it won't take more than a year. Thank again.
