Listen....
I dont need your rude coments or stipid ideas like bashing my head into a wall to try to help....Im a 13 yer old girl and my friends are really disapointed of me for doing this.....
I cut myself and im trying to stop....And b 4 you stupid ppl have n e coments about me being crazy then your wrong. If you would see me at school you would think im a normal person...I know how to use forums( I have one of my own) so srry if I posted this in the wrong spot....
Heres this coment so you ppl dont think im crazy...

Okay, first of all, people who cut do not do it to kill themselves. They do it to release the built up overwhelming emotions inside of them so that they can stay alive. Its a hard to understand concept, but the best way I can explain it is this: some people have trouble expressing emotional pain and they can't understand why or where emotional pain hurts."

i only wanna stop....And I need some ppl to help with there coments or ideas....
Please help

You are not crazy!! I used to cut and I learned to stop, when I reliazed the pain I was inflicting on myself, family and, friends. You are not the only person who cuts in this world. It is dangerous to cut, because you could cut to deep and end up dead, and you dont want that do you? People cut to make themsevles feel better, like when a lot of stuff is going on they cut to get their mind of that, and so that way they pay attention, to the place where they cut. You have the strenght to stop cutting, because I found the will power inside me to stop and you can to! Good luck!

I'm 13 as well and I used to cut..My friends though I was crazy...Its hard to stop, but you have to be willing to open your mind to new ways to express yourself..For me, I started writing poetry, writing letters to myself telling me what made me cut, hell, I even talked to a psychiatrist..But probably one thing that helped me was realizing what I could do to myself..Try wearing elastic rubber bands and popping them when you get depressed..Its pain and leaves marks just like cuts, but it does no harm to you..Talk to someone you trust for help..I'm gonna give you a toll free hotline number that you can call if you need someone to talk to: 1-800-448-3000 (girls town hotline, yes its a crisis hotline). I've never called it, because all the crisis lines i've called were in my area code, but its a crisis line, so I hope it helps..If it doesnt and you ever need to talk about something, pm me and we can work out something...I'll try to get more numbers from my shrink..Hope it helps..

I don't think that you are crazy or stupid or anything else! You are young going through somethings like everyone does. Everyone handles things differently. Personally I have never had that problem, but I have known people who have. Try instead of cutting yourself, writing everything down on paper. Tell yourself no I am not going to do this to myself anymore. If you need someone to talk with I am here for ya.

You're Not Alone.

You are not alone, and you are not crazy! I used to cut a lot. (i'm 15) it is a really common problem, and people often think that we do it because we are suicidal. Wrong. It is a negative way to get rid of stress. I guess I stopped, because I realized I had to. It doesn't do anything long term for you, and you have to want to stop, or you won't. Find something that makes you happy, talk to someone, or see your doctor. There are tons of ways to get help.

I just turned 16 and just got out of the hospital for cutting. But some people do cut to kill... Just because you don't or some people you know don't doesn't mean everyone wants to just release emotions and stuff. I did it to kill myself and i'm still having problems. Now I burn or give myself a tattoo... My friend said if I wanted to feel pain then I should put it toward someting positive... Such as a tattoo...
Good luck!

My Friend
Posted: 03-22-05 01:56am

My friend also cuts herself. We have tried and tried to get through to her. All I know to say is just pray and keep thinking of the things to live for. Think of your family. I really hope you figure out what could help you to stop hurting yourself. I know you think why do I care. The reason I do is because I think if I cannot help my friend then maybe I can help someone else. I just pray that you can come to realization that you are needed in this world. And that people do care.

As you can tell your def not alone out there. I'm 18 years old and I just started cutting, I never did before in my entire life but I guess age really doesnt have anything to do with it.

I used to think all the kids who cut were nuts. It was also usually the kids who were labeled 'goth' or something. I was the kid who everyone knew, who was really preppy and 'popular'... I dont think anyone ever would of guessed I would do something like this. But like you, I was unable to express my emotions, and i've been really depressed lately and im not sure why. So, I began to cut. My mom found out easter morning when she saw my arms by accident and totally flipped out. I'm just starting, but ive already schedualed an appt. W/ a counselor, and i've been writing in my journal alot lately and in a notebook I just scribble in. I also excerise alot now. Whenever I feel really distressed, I ride my bike or run on the treadmill or do situps and pushups untill I have no more energy. This also releases endorphines, which is the same drug released in your body whenever you cut. Its help a little bit.

Again, I just started so i'm not really sure what works and what does it. For me, all of my suggestions have helped me, but they havent cured me. I still have that need to cut and I think its going to take alot within you (and me) to get over this. Good luck!!!

Cutting is far more normal than you may think. I am a 19-year-old law student, and you would never be inclined to think of me as a "cutter" if you ever did see me. For me, cutting is a way of relief- almost pleasurable. I suffer from ocd, tourettes, depression, anxiety and panic. Nobody knows about this apart from my doctors and myself- but I feel trapped in a personal hell. I like to buy cheap razor blades, break them up to reveal the blade, and cut my thighs in private if I feel over whelmed. Is this the best coping mechanism that one can use? No. Does it work? Hell yes.

Cutting is addictive, and whilst I encourage you to find new outlets for your emotions, it is unlikely that you will stop this habit cold turkey. And there may be no need to.

All I will say is this. When you cut, be sure to sterilize the blade/knife, and avoid veins/arteries.

I honestly don't feel qualified to give you or anyone else any better advice. I struggle with these issues myself.

I used to be depressed and had everything goin bad for me. Getting arrested, parents, alchoholic problem, jobless, broke & then I cut myself one night on my left arm deep. I was so stupid for doing it. All of my family was worried and I saw that they really care n love me.
Now , im living totally ooppisite of how I used to live. And doin good.
I have a big scar on my left arm because I was scared to go to hospital.
I love life and want to have as much fun as I can.
Everything will get better. And dont think negative think positive about good things

I must admit that self-injury or people who cut themselves may be hard to understand. Even self-cutters have no idea why they are doing it, except to say that there is some sort of relief from inner tension, frustration and sadness.

As a nutritional psychologist I have discovered that most people who injure themselves are found to be hypoglycemic, if you test them with a medical glucose tolerance test for hypoglycemia. This disorder can be treated without recourse to drugs by the adoption of the hypoglycemic diet.

The test is described at our web site as;
medical test for hypoglycemia.

You can also test yourself with a paper-and-pencil test called the nutrition behavior inventory test (nbi).

Now one might wonder why people with hypoglycemia would cut themselves.

Hypoglycemia is a common condition shared among people with depression, anxiety attacks, drug addicts and alcoholics, ocd, and ptsd.

It is a nutritional disorder that interferes with the absorption and metabolism of glucose from food. Glucose is converted to biological energy, called atp and the brain depends entirely on glucose as its only source of energy. Without that energy the brain cannot synthesize the ‘feel-good’ neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.

Hence people with hypoglycemia have problems producing the happy hormones and neurochemical that can make them feel happy, relaxed and content when they normally should.

When the brain is deprived of energy as in a hypoglycemic dip, it will send stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol into the blood stream in an attempt to raise blood sugar levels.

But these very same stress hormones, internally produced, are also the source of all the symptoms of mental illness. Doctors prescribe drugs to suppress these symptoms but without dealing with the real causes of depression.

We need a diet that reduce the production of adrenaline and this can be done by adopting the hypoglycemic diet.

Thus ‘cutting’ is not so much as a mental disorder as it is a physical disorder, that fortunately can be treated nutritionally.

Hey.. I cant say I know what you been threw cause I dont but I do know that I know how u feel. Im new at this thing and I got in this to see if anyone can help me and to see if I can help others too,...Basically...We need help and we cant just sit around thinking its going to come to us. We have to try and make things better, we have to picture life as a beatiful thing.. Life is full of many nice things and bad to0..But we just have to focus on the good life and not think so negative... I dont know if this would help you...But I reallly do care about other people and also me. And I know people care for us...I know its not easy. But we just have to face it and try to move on, ...Try to find an activity like I did, try to get into sports or something you like..Listen to music, draw, write...

P.S- hope u feel better.

You're not stupid. I'm almost 23 and I am a cutter. I didn't admit it until a year ago, when it had started a year and a half before. Just know that there are people who understand where you're coming from.

Hey I have a few questions for you? What are you doing or thinking right before you cut? Like what makes you want to do it? Where do you do it and does your parents ever see it? Im not calling you crazy or werid. Im 19 and use to do the same thing. My parents would piss me off and I would want to scream but instead I would cut my arm. It was like I wanted to hide anger but wasnt sure how. But you know what made me stop? The thought of my children asking me mommy whats all these scars from. Or seeing my grandparents and having them ask me what the hell is going on. Pretty much seeing my loved ones hurt because I was hurting my self. If you ever want to talk just pm me or email me @ sexiebre@ yahoo.Com
