Question I am a soon to be 50 year old man who has had three surgeries performed on my lower lumbar section of my back.. The first surgery was in 1987 second in 1989 and the third was done april 22, 2002. This last surgery was a fusion between l-1 and l-4. During the last surgery there was a complication and I lost vision in my left eye. I have learned to deal with the eye problem but now my back is messed up again and the Dr. Says I need to have the l-5 area included in the fusion. Up to this point I have done all the other prescribed remedies, ie; physical theraphy, nerve blocks with steriod injections, rest and pain meds. I am afraid to have the surgery because I don't want to wake up blind in both eyes. The quality of my life has suffered terribly and I have not worked in two month. Just looking for some support.....
