I got an operation right after giving birth that was supposed to beable to cut off any possibility of pregnancy in the future. (i was 44 yrs. Old)
so, now i'm wondering (9 yrs later) what the procedure is called and what is the knowledge the medical professionals have about this procedure regarding sex drive. Did I have my ovaries removed?? I still have periods.
I have no sex drive. Or is it peri-menopausal related and not anything to do with this operation.
Also suffered since birth incontinence sporatically.
Is this condition also related?
Thanks for any input.

I hope you will see a doctor about all of your problems.

You probably had a tubal ligation, which is where they tie off or cauterize the fallopian tubes to prevent eggs to get from the ovaries to the uterus.

Tubal ligation usually doesn't affect hormone levels, but hormones do decrease as we age and sex drive can be affected by that. Also, dips in hormones can contribute to incontinence, but only your doctor can determine the best course of treatment for that.

The encouraging news is that there are some wonderful new options for increasing sex drive for women, including topical creams with testosterone.

Please see your gynecologist to discuss all these options as well as your bladder difficulties.

Take care.
