Acid Reflux

I recently went to the doctor because I was having chest pains and abdominal pains. They told me acid reflux was the cause. That I was eating too much things causing this. For instance, pepper, onions, coffee, chocolate etc. So they prescribed me a type of antacid medication to reduce the acid. Its really only been a couple days, and the pain has decreased somewhat. But i've noticed, that I haven't had to go to the restroom to do number 2 for 2 days now. Can this be because of the medication, that is reducing the acid, therefore causing the digestion to go slower? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Depends on the medicine they prescribed.. I am on prevacid and I have not had this problem.. It could simply be your change in diet. I know spicy things (even though I can rarely eat them myself) make me go! If you've changed your diet I would say that's probably the cause. Try to include some fiber in one of your meals and I would bet you'll start to get back to normal.

One of the causes of reflux disease is decreased motility of the stomach muscle fibres and if the same condition affects the muscle layer of the lower bowel or the large intestine it could lead to constipation.
Homeopathic medicine has good remedies for such conditions to reduce the acidity and also improve the motility like nux vom, natrum carb, mag carb etc.
