Hi i'm 34 yrs old and I am due to have a total hysterectomy next week. For over 2 years my quality of life has not been good, terrible bleeding not being able to go out because of it. Constant fatigue always tired no energy levels. Diagnosed with overly large uterus and cists and suffer from anemia 7.0 hb no alternative but to operate. I'm scared. Please if you have any words of encouragement I would really appreciate it.

Hysterectomy
Dear maddie:

i know you are scared and it is a hard decision to make. This is a major operation but once you are out of recovery you are on your way to a more healthy and happy person. You will needs lots of rest and help from friends and family to help cook, clean and see to your care for at least 1 1/2 weeks. Someone needs to check on you everyday if possible. You will have some discomfort but when you are well you will be so happy. No more periods, no more discharges, you will probably lose some weight too. I have been very happy with my outcome.

in the same boat at age 38. Have been avoiding it for about five years but everyone I talk to says i'll be thinking I should have done it a long time ago. It's probably the right thing to do - let me know how it goes.

I had a total when I was 29. Trust me it will get better. I feel sooooo much better now then I did then. Find some people who can help you for the first couple of weeks and follow your doctor's instructions! I will keep in you my thoughts and prayers!!!

Dont Be Scared Look to the Future

dont be scared the worse was the night before taking the crap to clean you out. I had the same anemia and bleeding for 7 months straight. Major depression. Didnt want to date. Always felt nasty and I was always washing and powdering myself just a couple of hours after I showered because I felt like I could smell myself, but it was all in my mind because it was depressing me.But I had the laparoscopic assisted and they took all but 1 ovary and tubes. He wanted to leave in what was good so I wouldnt be on hormones he said 1 was still good the other was bleeding and the uterus was huge but no cancer. So far so good with me but its only been 3 days. But the 3 little holes in my stomach is better than 16 stitches. Good luck to you, nancy
