Q: Strange Lump On Gums - Concerned!

Hey everyone,

so this morning, while brushing my teeth, I noticed a smooth slightly protruding lump on the inner gum of my lower jaw. It's located on the gum right above where it meets the floor of my mouth, and when I press on it with my finger, there seems to be a hard object inside of it that's moveable. It's painless, unless I push on it and it makes contact against the gum itself.

What could this be? I'm concerned, since i'm going on vacation today and won't have a chance to see the dentist for a week . . . Could this be an infection or an abcess? A piece of bone that's floating around in there?

Thanks!

Could be any of those things, but could also be a blocked salivary gland.See your dentist as soon as you get back from your trip.Good luck.Patty
