Rhogam is a shot that keeps mom and baby
from mixing blood. Not sure why they do
it so far along. Its not as risky with
your first as it is with your second. I
have it and had the shot for both babies
already. Its nothing to worry over. Its
a shot in the hip, doesnt hurt. I had
mine when I did the glucose test (both
times). Just how the appointments fell.

I have the opposite problem. It's called
abo incompatibility. There's nothing
they can do for me and my babies. My
first one wears a contact in her left eye
because of all the complications. The
second one is perfectly healthy now,
although she came much closer to dying
than the first. Anyway, to my knowledge,
mom and baby's blood doesn't mix until
delivery. When something or other
crosses over the placenta and something.
In other words, I can't remember. But,
that may be why you don't get the shot
until later.

I Have Rh-blood.. Posted: 11-23-04 15:59pm
Hi...I had the rohgam shot a few week's
ago. There is nothing to stress over! My
doc did tell me though that negative blood
can effect pregnancy's after this one but
I wouldn't worry about it too much. I
have family and friends who have several
kids and they all had negative blood and
apparently it's very common in alot of
pregnancy's! I do agree though..I don't
know why they make you wait so long to get
it!!

I'm not worried about the shot (i have 5
tattoos and many piercings-lol) it's more
the waiting to get it. They gave me one
after my last miscarriage in 1999. My
mom is neg too but so am I -she was lucky
with me. I just get worried about
miscarrying again.
