Is there anyone else besides me, that is going through this? I'm scared and confused. I really thought that it was over after my hysterectomy. What are the chances of survival? Crying or Very sad Confused

Get to a doc. My mom had a hysterectomy years ago and when I told her I was preggy she got a period- she wants to kill me-lol. I thought it was imposssible to get preg after a hysterectomy since your ovaries are gone. Did u have a full one or partial? Are you sure your pregnant - no offense but it could be early menopause. Let us know.

Wow good luck. My dad had a vasectomy before I was born and here I am! Course that was 22 years ago, so surgery wasnt as advanced but still... And I think its more common for it to not be as effective with men than women. Let us know after checking with a doc

Yes, I am sure. I have been to the doctor and I am 3 months. The doctor that did my hysterectomy left one of my ovaries. I am so outdone. I really thought that part of my life was over. I would have never imagined.

Well if you are preggy now then that's half the battle-i'm sure as long as you take care of yourself then everything will be ok. Check with your doc and good luck!

Ummm I have had a hysterectomy.
What are you carrying your baby in??? You cervix if you kept it would have been stitched up if not you would have had a vaginal cuff.
A doctor would not allow a pregnancy to continue in the abdominal cavity - it is life threatening - it is an ectopic pregnancy.
If you really do have a pregnancy in the abdominal cavity and your doctor really has done nothing about, get to another doctor .F.A.S.T

For those who do not know.

The baby is carried in the uterus - anywhere else is life-threatening.

Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus and sealing of the vagina/cervix.

I have an ovary remaining, in fact I only ever had one.

From - juniper - hyster sister
there have been 12 recorded cases in the past (i think) 60 years of hysterectomies of women getting pregnant after surgery (there were 24 other cases of women having an ectopic before the surgery that was not discovered at that time).

A pregnancy would result from a tear in the vaginal cuff or if she kept her cervix in the cervical pouch.

An ectopic pregnancy can occur anywhere in the abdomen, though the most common place is in the fallopian tubes. A full-term pregnancy cannot be supported outside the uterus, the mechanism for supplying blood to the fetus just isn't there.

I hope this woman is able to find the proper medical care for whatever condition she might have (sometimes ovarian cysts can mimic pregnancy, causing lactation and positive pregnancy tests via urine analysis).

Take care.
