I had a cold about a month ago, no big deal. But since then I have had what I think is laryngitis, but only when my voice reaches a certain pitch...Usually a higher pitch than I normally speak. I cannot sing with the radio (ok...Some poeple are happy about that!!) and my voice is not as strong when I have to project it. This has been going on for just over a month with no change. I live in the northeast, so maybe it's the onset of colder weather? Although it has never happened before and I have lived here for 40 years. Any thoughts? Anyone ever experience this? Should I panic???? (i tend to panic) I have no pain, no difficulty swollowing, cough up a tiny amt of white/clear mucus (sorry...I now that's gross), and nothing else. Acidic foods sting a bit. Any info to make me calm down would be appreciated!! Thak youso much! Annemarie

The fact that you said acidic foods sting make me wonder if you don't have some acid reflux. Do you ever get heartburn.. Even just occasionally? I say this because one of the early symptoms I had was just what you were talking about. My voice would just suddenly start to go in and out and my high range was shot. I could no longer keep in tune singing along to songs. For me it would go on for a month or two and then go away.. And then come back. I didn't know what was causing it until I was diagnosed with gerd (gastric reflux disease). You may not necessarily have gerd, but if something else is causing you to get heartburn (which you don't necessarily feel all the time.. Because a large number of people get it at night and don't realize it) it could cause those symptoms with your voice.
