Biracial Dating
Posted: 11-20-04 11:13am

I know this is somewhat off the subject but I just want to know how all you girls or guys feel about biracial dating. I ask because im white and I have never been with any other race but black. And a lot of my family always has something to say about it, like im prejudice against my own race.....It really hurts to see that just because I choose to be with a black guy, my family has to look down on me....I mean its not my immediate family but aunts and cousins and stuff....But I dont see what difference is if im with a black, white, purple or green guy as long as im happy right? I've been with my babysdaddy for 5 years now and im 6 weeks pregnant with our first child. Im scared to tell half of my family because I know what they are all going to say and I dont want to have to deal with none of that bullshyt....But it hurts even more to think that they might not accept my child because he or she is going to be biracial. I just dont know hoe to go about any of this. I mean I can be minding my own business and my moms boyfriend will see some "white" model on tv and be like hes a nice lookin guy but I forgot angel wont talk to him because hes white or something to that matter. It just hurts....So if anyone has any advice on how to go about things and any other advice, please share it.

I hope you seen my avatar. Look my father wont even talk to me now. Yes it hurts but first of all you love yourself, your man, and you love you child. You wouldnt want that stuff around your baby anyway. I get looked at all the time but I dont care as long as I am happy that is what matters to me..Dont never be ashamed to spread the most important and joyful thing in your life and that is your baby... My boyfriends whole family excepts us and on myside just my mother and my grandmother and my brother that is it.. So I feel you. Just stand tall and keep your head high because you are in love........ Good luck

Yeah I see your avatar and I figured you were going to be one of the first people to respond....I really dont care what they say or anything anymore because im happy and my man is happy and my moms id kool with it but its just that im a real emotional and sensitive person and I know if I tell them they will say something and then I will go into a depression state because I aint going to know how to deal with it and I dont want to do that because its too early in my pregnancy and I dont want nothing to happen to my child....My boyfriendsside of the family is kool with us and everything but its just my immature ass family...I mean its only a couple of people but its just the point...But thanx for the support girl...

It doesn't matter if the person is purple with three eyes, as long as you love each other and they treat you like a women is meant to be treated.. It is your life who cares what your family says as long as you are happy. My family wo8uld never dare tell me who I can date.. Because it is my opinion and no one elses..!!! :d

I don't know what to tell you. I went through the same thing and you just have to go through it. It sucks. It's very important that your baby isn't exposed that kind of negative if/when you can help it. My family used to say very cruel things. I have been married now for 6 years and have 2 beautiful babies and my family loves all of us. I know it doesn't always work out that way. I wish the best for you and your little family. :d

Well don't let anyone get you down. Especially being pregnant and all. Also, do what makes you happy, its not worth all the worry. Plus if your mom told everyone I am sure that makes it easier for you lol.

We do not choose who we love.It is just a matter of your heart telling you what is right! If your guy is a good, decent guy, don't worry what everyone else thinks. My sister-in-law has the most beautiful, kind children and a terrific husband. He just happens to also be black. He has never dated black women, just his choice. When I see him,i do not see a black man,i see one of the best human beings I have ever been priviledged to know!If some members of your family do not accept him or your children, that will be their loss. You just be happy and do not focus on those small minded people.Do not give them the satisfaction of upsetting you, enjoy your lives together and be happy!Best to you all!Patty

This might be a weird question..But biracial also means dating anyone outside your own ethnic background right? I'm with a hispanic and im white. My sons are mixed. I have always thought it was ok to date who you wanted.

it is okay to date who you want in our eyes but back in the day people were raised to stay in there own race, and some people still believe that until this day. Like my dad
