Vegetarian With High Cholesterol Posted: 11-19-04 14:59pm
Hi everyone this is my first post
i just had a physical and my doctor
diagnosed me with very high cholesterol,
this was very shocking to me considering
my age and my diet. I'm just had my 22
birthday and i'm a vegetarian since the
age of 16.
I know meat is a huge cause of high
cholesterol, but my diet doesn't include
any of this... I do however eat a good
amount of dairy.
Also during the past year my weight has
skyrocketed from 150pds to 200pds.
If anyone thinks they know of a good way
to tweak my diet, or you think there may
be an underlying issue that my doctor
overlooked.... Any help is greatly
apprecianted.
Tia

You Can Lower It Naturally Posted: 06-02-05 23:34pm
Hi jonathan
diary foods are a prime source of giving
high cholesterol. Being overweight also
contributes to it
you need to cut out all "full strength"
diary products and start using low fat
diary products etc. Exercising also helps
in a big way...But there are also other
factors eg. Family history, stress etc
that will contribute to your high
cholesterol
there are also many natural
alternatives/supplements that can help to
lower cholesterol. Some of these are
reportedly more effective in lowering
cholesterol than prescription medications,
without the dangerous side effects
these include: guggul, policosanol, red
yeast rice, pantethine etc. In addition
there are at least another 30 natural
supplements that can help to lower
cholesterol. Hope that helps.
