Q: Anybody Else Have This Weired Way of Helping Anxiety?

I'm just wondering if i'm alone in this, because it seems kind of weired. I have chronic anxiety and sometimes for no reason i'll just start panicking and getting hit with it. Now I know that can be normal because of chemicals and the such, but what i'm finding weired is the only way I know of to stop it. For some reason, when I listen to slayer of all things, my anxiety drops considerably. For those of you who don't know, slayer is a thrash metal band that's really fast and angry. They're the only band that does it, but in the past week i've realized when I throw them on it just helps so much, even though you'd think that kind of music would make a person feel worse. Anybody else have this strange reaction, and anyone know why this is?

Yeah!
I know exactly what you are talking about. When I get anxious or depressed, and start having an attack of some sort, I go into my room, shut the door, and blast some real heavy rock. Within minutes I feel fine.

What I think it is, your mind is focusing on the music more than your attack. When you focus on the attack you panic more, so the music helps. But it's weird, yeah, only really angry sounding music will help, no classical crap.

So no, you're not alone! And as long as it works! :p
