Is folic acid at the store the same as a doctor prescription. I don't know if im pregnant now but I still want to try... If I buy it at a duane reade store will it still be good...

from my understanding you are better off getting a prescription from your doctor because the one over the counter does not have enough milligrams. The prescription one is most preferred by doctors. It is being used to prevent down's syndrome in.

Me and my husband are trying for a third child Laughing and I always take folic acid from over the counter and when you do come out pregnant your doctor prescribes you with prenatal vitamins. Prenatal vitamins pretty much contain all the good stuff inside the pill to make your baby healthy. I am taking folic acid w/800 milligrams & I thank the lord that my kids have come out healthy. Hope this helped. Good luck with ttc. I will know if I am pregnant by the end of this week. :d
