Had a Hayfever (steroid) Shot Posted: 11-18-04 20:58pm
Hi,
i suffer from hayfever, even worse now
that I moved to new zealands hay fever
capital.I have tried every medication on
the shelf and nothing seemed to work, so I
finally went to the doctor and he gave me
a steroid shot, kenacort it was called.
However its been 2 days and today my hay
fever is so bad I had to go home early
from work. Please someone tell me when
it will work! Otherwise I might have to
quit my job, and I just started it two
weeks ago (i work in agriculture).

Someone please help im in agony!! My eyes
feel like they have dirt in them
permanently, my chest hurts and im wheezy,
my nose is stuffed up and keep s drippings
like a tap. I want that shot to kick
in!
Oh yes, the chest pains are just a symptom
of hay fever right? My chest feels tight
and its hard to breathe, but the last
thing I want is asthma because I already
have hay fever and eczema and I know im
lucky because most people with those two
have asthma too. Im 23 years old! Any
help would be appreciated.

I would bet you may have asthma too. I
would also ask for a nasal spray to go
along with an antihistimine. On top of
that...Maybe ask for a burst of
prednisone? Though I would really,
really hate that. Have you tried
immunotherapy?

I thought you couldnt develop asthma at my
age? Oh, I have a nasal spray but it
doesnt do too much when my nose is really
stuffed up. Its been 5 days now and im
still waiting for the injection to kick in
:/ and I have to go back to work tomorrow!

Sounds like asthma. U can develop it at
any age. A lot of times hay fever and
asthma go hand in hand. U prob need to
get on some steroid inhalers. I take a
pill every day that helps with both
(singulair). Ur allergies may be worse
also cuz of the shot they gave u. U
could be allergic to it (which I doubt,
but u never know!) asthma kills though,
so get to the doc asap!!!!!!!!
