Hi everyone, can somebody help me? Sad

i am a very active healthy 20-year old. I've never had any kind of allergic reaction before, but about a week ago, I started getting red bumps starting around the 'bikini area' and now I have these bumps (hive-like) on my inner arms, upper arms, hands, fingers, legs, armpits, neck, feet, abdomen, back and head (none on the face...Yet??). I have seen 2 doctors and they said it was an allergic reaction to something unknown. I have been using hydrocortisone cream, gold bond itch cream, and have been taking reactine and benadryl and having baths with baking soda, but nothing is working! The rashy bumps are getting redder, itchier, and are spreading. I thought if this is an allergic reaction, wouldn't it be gone or getting better by now? It's been over a week.

Does anyone know what this is, or if I should try something else or just go back to the Dr.? Any ideas or feedback is welcome,.

thanks!!

Itchy Red, Raised Bumps/rash: Allergy Or Something Worse?
It is definitely an allergic reaction of the body either internal or external exposure. Is there any itching, irritation, redness, swelling of the affected areas and does it go down on its own to appear again in a short while?

Homeopathic medicine has good remedies like apis mel, urtica urens, bovista, dulcamara, rhus tox etc. To see that the rash subsides.

Sounds like overuse of laundry detergent all over again. Really rinse your clothes clean and wash with baking soda.

Hi, I know exactly what your going threw. About 6 months ago I went threw it, I am not big on going to the doctor, but my condition got worse than just the hives. At one point in time, my lip would swell, my eye and the last straw was my trachea. It was so irritating , the itch and the swells would get large and larger. I was so frustrated and I felt so helpless because no cream would help. The bad news is the trigger is unknown, but I started getting allergy shots once a week and this helped, I havent had hives in quite some time now..

I realize you posted about a month ago, but I had a rash in similar areas. I was diagnosed with having mono. The doc gave me a really strong steroid cream, and it went away within days. I hope you haven't been suffering since then. I was misdiagnosed for a terrible six weeks. Hope you're doing well.

Itchy Red Bumps
Did you ever find out what this was? Was it an allergic reaction?

I was wondering if it was hand, foot, & mouth? Are you around preschool kids by any chance?

Hmmm
Have you considered the possibility of scabies? Its normally sexually transmitted, but can be contracted through just sitting on a couch etc. Its very annoying but harmless, and is cured by a cream containing permethrin (a pesticide). Its not a disease, but rather a microscopic mite that irritates your skin. It usually affects mostly your arms, legs, fingers, etc, but not your face. Ask your doc.

Itchy Rash
I am in the same situation. I have been suffering with this itch that started with a section on my right upper arm and then it spread. On and off since November of 2011 I have been itchy on my arms, back, hips and legs. Now on my left shoulder. I have had a biopsy and nothing came back expect bacterial. Are you kidding me! I'm going to see a naturopathic doctor and my GP yet again. Thinking it may be Stress dermatis exzema as well or I could have developed a reaction to my synthroid with my changing hormonse lately. I have recently researched my laundry detergent "HE Gain" and am going to stop using it. Many people are experiencing the same systoms and it was the HE Gain". Good luck, it's sure has been frustrating to say the least.
My relief has been a natural product called "Dr. Reeds lotion" They use it to also treat Poison Ivy etc. It contains Camphor, menthol, sodium bicarbonate, boric acid, alcohol and distiled water. Not all drug stores have it, but you can get it over the counter with no persciption. Leaves you feeling cold but I just put some fleece PJ's on and I can get sleep. Hope this helps

Tired of Being Itchy
I am covered in itchiness everywhere except my face and my feet. I don't know if it's the sun, or if it's allergies, or what. Mine started when I moved from kc, ks to madison, wi four years ago.
I have a friend of a friend who lived in wi his whole life, and was inflicted with bad itchy skin problems the entire time. He moved to flastaff, az, and it cleared up in two weeks, and has never returned. He says it's some kind of mushroom spore that comes from the upper penninsula of michigan. Anybody heard of anything like this?
I also spend most of my sleeping time and awake time scratching, and am covered in scabs from all the scratching. Doctors have no idea what's wrong, and the steroids aren't working anymore. Help is needed if anyone has it. I really don't know how much more I can take.

Re: Rash/hives!
Hi everyone, incase this helps!

I've had allergic reactions for several years now. I used to have my trachea swell up so I couldn't breathe properly, then this calmed down. Then, suddenly, I got hives all over my body. Mostly chest, upper legs and back. They were so so itchy and would get worse if I itched! Big swells.

Anyway, I went to an alternative therapist to try to figure out what it was. I'd thought it was milk and cut it out, but it wasn't. The therapist suggested eggs/pasta, so I cut those out. No luck! The hives kept coming back.

I eventually figured out it could be mushrooms. I stopped eating them, and voila no more hives.

Yesterday after a few months hive and mushroom free, I decided to test it out with a ham & mushroom pizza. I got a couple hives/swells on my side and foot, and a nasty rash of tiny red, aggravated bumps on just the left side of my face. It's rough to the touch and hasn't gone yet!

I'm pretty convinced now it's mushrooms. No one could help me when I was looking for a cause, and when i've looked online there's been suggested cases of mushroom allergies but little research done into it.

So, following on from an earlier post suggesting mushroom spores being a cause, I suggest looking into mushroom spores/mushroom eating causing the hives.

Nb there's been a suggested link, that mushroom/spore allergy could occur in people also affected by hayfever/this causes hayfever. Not necessarily the case though.

Good luck, and all the best everyone!

Works like magic
I had sun poisioning, then reaction to suntan lotion, then other infections. For four weeks, hell. Itching driving me mad. Nothing helped. Then a pharmacist recommended Aqueous Cream. OH MY GOD RELIEF. Cheap, made locally, can use instead of soap. Slather on all over your body. I put it on for the first time yesterday and got my life back. TRY IT.

SAME ISSUE =[[[
OH MY GOD. i kno exactlyyyy wat you are going through, ok!! um this started in august, it looked like mosquito bites since they were clear little bumps, but itchy. thought they would go away but it got worse.

i sought medical attention and the dr said it was a food reaction. they drew my blood, injected me with something, and gave me a pill. didnt work.

been itching like CRAZY. went back. gave me an injection of CORTIZONE, ok! did not work. gave me a prescription cream, did not work; went through 2 tubes.

relatives said to cut out milk. i did. still there.

i literally cannot go to sleep at night since i am itching like crazy. and i try not to scratch, i really do, but its just way out of hand. i slept TWO hours last nite Sad( very sad.

i really do not know how much more i can take. im going crazy. it seems to get worse tho when im in bed, i changed my sheets. didnt help Sad

UGH im going crazy i really DO NOT know wat to do. im going to a allergy specialist or something see if that helps.

MY ADVICE. do NOT SCRATCH it, ok!
seek AS MUCH medical attention as possible, until u find the answer. u do not have to go through this.

on another subject, i kinda started loosing faith in God because i was really asking "wat did i do to deserve this?!" and i prayed, didnt help....idk..this is crazy.

i really hope u get better! if its the same as mine, i kno ur going through the fire now =[

I am in the exact same situation. Has been going on since November of 2011. You expained my exact sinario. I'm see an naturopathic doctor next week. I am going for a detox and hopefully I will find out if it's food or dairy related. I have been on Synthroid for years but I'm thinking from my OWN reserach that it could be with my changing hormones I could be reacting to my meds now. My only relief has been a natural product called "Dr. Reeds Lotion" Not all drug stores carry it because they actually go out and pick the herbs to make it. It contains Camphor, menthol, soduim bicarbonate, boric acid, alcohol and distilled water. They use it to treat Poison Ivy and other itchy things. The doctors have no clue about this product but the Drug Stores are very familiar with it. Releaves the itch immediately. You will feel really cold but I put on my fleece PJ's and get some sleep. I usually get itchy again in the early morning hours and put more on. I have it with my everywhere I go in case I get itchy. I am scarred enough already and apply it to stop the itch so I won't scratch. Good Luck!

Losing faith
Sounds horrible. The losing your faith part I mean. Read the book of Job in the bible. The enemy is smiling!

cipro or bed bugs
i just started going through this same "masquito bump" looking bites with red rashed and rashes with small bumps around my body. they would come and go and are so itchy. I am on oral steroroids now but they aren't helping.

2 things i think could be the cause of this:
Cipro (antibiotic) can cause reactions like this. I had taken it for an ear infection and it didn't work but a day or two after i started getting these itchy bumps and rashes

OR

BED BUGS
it could very possibly be bugs inside your mattress. They only draw on blood at dawn time so that could be why your not sleeping. I am scared it is my problem but I am going to let the doctor tell me what she thinks first. Look up the pictures and see if your symptoms look like the pictures and information.

hope this helped.

I was wondering if cipro was the cause, i started having itchiness and hives all over right after i took cipro and it hasnt gone since. It has been four months since i have take cipro and am still suffering from the allergy and doctors think that the effect of cipro should have been gone by now. Did you find any resolution to your problem? Was cipro the cause of all this?

Bumps/Rash
Hello, my 5 yr old has bumps mostly on both of her knees and bow elbows, but also on both legs and wear her undies touch around her legs. In reading these posts i think it might be the laundry detergant and softner which i did just change and will try rinsing her clothes real good, BUT also thought it could be chicken pox! She's had 2 chicken pox vacinations and have read it could be a breakthrough infection. I'm stumped because there is no fluid in these bumps and are only in these areas. They are not on her stomach, back, face or neck. Hopefully her Dr can see her tomorrow..and that will be able to spend Christmas holiday with family after. Thank you for all your posts they were very helpful!

Responding to Christina. I had an allergic reaction to suntan lotion in mexcio. Same thing itchy like crazy and hurting also. Could not sleep and went to bed with an icepack, that helped. But the doctor perscribed me steroids (prednisone 10mg, loratadine(antihistamine) and idocaine. He said do not put anything on it. Within a day I felt relief. HOpe this helps. Seems I am allergic to something in Banana Boat Suntan Lotions.

Nightmare Allergy
If you mean the one that attack you when you feel embarrassed or frightened or hot and you just want to run and be alone to scratch it, then this is the damn allergy that still no smart doctor can cure it. I don''t understand why and what''s the secret behind it. The best temporary cure for it i found so far is 1 injection called something like "diprofoss" not sure of spelling but it can fight this allergy for few months but it will come back again.
