Hi, i've mentioned this in the skin disorder forum too because I just don't know what it is. Cancer runs very high in my family, so I thought i'd ask here too. I have a lump on my neck an inch or so above my collar bone. It appeared two to three weeks ago and was about the size of a pencil eraser. Now it is dime-sized (although oval shaped). It does not hurt or itch even with pressure. It is stiff in consistency and is partly below the surface, partly swollen above. It is on my left side right on the front corner of my neck. I am concerned because it appeared so fast. I am not having trouble swallowing, breathing or with my throat. Does this sound remotely cancerous (i'm going to see my doc, but can't get in til next week and i'm nervous while waiting). Thanks!

Lump On Throat
Speaking from experience, as I am a thyroid cancer patient, if your lump was related to the thyroid you would have a very distincted sympton, a gag reflex, for example when you brush your teeth and scrape your tongue, you gag.

I was dx with a goiter 3 years ago, as it got larger the gag reflex became more and more apparent.

A simple ultra sound will dx if you have this problem.

Hope this is helpful

Thyroid cancer does not have to have any symptoms what so ever. I too found a lump in the middle of my neck while I was pregnant. It was thyroid cancer. No symptoms nothing but a bump. It ended up being as large as my thyroid and the whole thing was removed. If it turns out to be cancer. Yeah. Of all cancers this is the one to get. The odds of getting sick much less dieing are slim to none...
