Q: Cone Biopsy And Pregnancy

I recently had a cone biopsy done. It was about 4 months ago. I just had my first follow-up appointment for a pap and am waiting for the results to see if everything looks ok. My husband and I want to have a baby. I have been away from him due to business for 8 months now and he is coming to see me in december. We want to try to get pregnant when he is here. Is fertility lowered after having a cone biopsy and having dysplasia? I read somewhere about the doctor saying it is best to wait a year before getting pregnant. Does anyone know if this is true? My doctor didn't tell me this. And will it be a high risk pregnancy? Pease help.

These are all good questions for your doc. There are several ways the biopsies are done and I know that one way (where several areas are biopsied,in cone shaped sections) is supposed to be better for later conception. As far as you being high risk, that is for your doc to assess when you are pregnant.Best of luck to you.Patty
