I am a breast cancer survivor and I have had a partial hysterectomy and now after an ultrasound I am told I have fluid in my pelvic area and I don't know what that means. The doctor does not want to be specific until I have a catscan.

Fluid In the Pelvis
Dear darcel,

i'm sorry, it must be very unsettling for you not to know what is going on. Waiting on a diagnosis can be quite upsetting. I can only suggest that the reason your doctor is so hesitant to be more specific is because fluid in the pelvic area can be caused by a whole range of different things, and for him/her to guess at this stage without doing a catscan would be quite unprofessional of them. Try to be patient and relax a bit, fluid in the pelvis is not life threatning, just very uncomfortable.

Good luck...

Fluid
I have been told that the fluid is from ruptured cysts by my gynecologist, or it could be because I do alot of cardio running etc. ?? By the RN at the ER.
I went to the ER yesterday beacuse the pain in my abdomen (lower right side) & lower
back/tailbone was debilitating. I believe I also have sciatic issues. The pain and open ended answers are frustrating. I've had Ct's, pelvic & transvag ultrasound, bloodtests, cultures... and they just find fluid....I cannot believe the pain!

Pelvic and Back Pain
I am in horrible pain in my pelvic area and my back. I had an ultrasound and they found fluid in my pelvic area. They stated that a cyst had burst and that is what is causing the severe pain. Has anyone experienced the pain in their back as well as their pelvic area? Of course, I have convinced myself that something is wrong with my kidneys but the doctors state it is from my burst cyst.

Fluid in the pelvic area
I just found out yesterday that I too have fluid in my lower left pelvic area. It showed up after a CT scan. Now Dr is sending me for an MRI. It appears from these posts that I am lucky in that I don't have pain. Am I reading correctly that most of you are being told it is related to cysts?

fluid in pelvic area
I too have been told that I have fluid in my pelvic area. The blood tests show that my platelets are very low thus indicative that I'm probably fighting an infection. I have gone through ultra sound CT scan and more blood tests. It all began about 4 weeks ago the bloating and pain in the abdomen. Pain is not as bad as other readers, but none the less quite unnerving. I have scheduled an appointment with my Gbyn as instructed. Let's hope we all get better.
