I am a breast cancer survivor and I have had a partial hysterectomy and now after an ultrasound I am told I have fluid in my pelvic area and I don't know what that means. The doctor does not want to be specific until I have a catscan.

Fluid In the Pelvis
Dear darcel,

i'm sorry, it must be very unsettling for you not to know what is going on. Waiting on a diagnosis can be quite upsetting. I can only suggest that the reason your doctor is so hesitant to be more specific is because fluid in the pelvic area can be caused by a whole range of different things, and for him/her to guess at this stage without doing a catscan would be quite unprofessional of them. Try to be patient and relax a bit, fluid in the pelvis is not life threatning, just very uncomfortable.

Good luck...

Fluid
I have been told that the fluid is from ruptured cysts by my gynecologist, or it could be because I do alot of cardio running etc. ?? By the RN at the ER.
I went to the ER yesterday beacuse the pain in my abdomen (lower right side) & lower
back/tailbone was debilitating. I believe I also have sciatic issues. The pain and open ended answers are frustrating. I've had Ct's, pelvic & transvag ultrasound, bloodtests, cultures... and they just find fluid....I cannot believe the pain!

Pelvic and Back Pain
I am in horrible pain in my pelvic area and my back. I had an ultrasound and they found fluid in my pelvic area. They stated that a cyst had burst and that is what is causing the severe pain. Has anyone experienced the pain in their back as well as their pelvic area? Of course, I have convinced myself that something is wrong with my kidneys but the doctors state it is from my burst cyst.

Fluid in the pelvic area
I just found out yesterday that I too have fluid in my lower left pelvic area. It showed up after a CT scan. Now Dr is sending me for an MRI. It appears from these posts that I am lucky in that I don't have pain. Am I reading correctly that most of you are being told it is related to cysts?

fluid in pelvic area
I too have been told that I have fluid in my pelvic area. The blood tests show that my platelets are very low thus indicative that I'm probably fighting an infection. I have gone through ultra sound CT scan and more blood tests. It all began about 4 weeks ago the bloating and pain in the abdomen. Pain is not as bad as other readers, but none the less quite unnerving. I have scheduled an appointment with my Gbyn as instructed. Let's hope we all get better.

Pain in the Pelvis area.
I went to all the testing as mention in this forum to find out what is causing the pain I get periodically in my Left Pelvic area, aside from the Fibroids in my Uterus which I have since 2005, they've found Fluid in the Pelvis, my GYN does not seem to be concern, she would like me to get another Ultrasound in 6 mths.
My internist did not found any hernia it that area, she thinks it might be a muscle strain from practicing Yoga and Pilates.

I am so glad I found this site. I went to the doctor today with severe abdominal pain and cramps. I have IBS already and we have been sure I have been suffering from a GI bug. I had to go back today because of the pain. She immediately sent me for a CT scan of my appendix and right ovary. Appendix was fine, but scan showed small cyst and they said fluid on my pelvis. I had NO clue. I lot of things make alot more sense now. Do we know how to get rid of it? What about the cyst? Never had any, thats scary enough for me.

When I was 23 my left ovary grew into a tumour the size of four babies, my GP said I was pregnant, I had to insist on further tests and they found out it was my ovary. They removed the ovary and all was fine, I had a scan today and they said there was some fluid in my pelvis, I was quite worried hence my finding this site. I just wanted to thank you all for your stories as it has comforted me. I also wanted to say to those that are experiencing pain and have not had a diagnosis from their doctor to go back and insist on getting checks. My GP was supposed to sepcialise in womens helth and she didnt spot it. Get checked!!

I have felt pain like that. Bout a month ago I even woke up with a severe pain beneath my right rib cage. It lasted about 7 hours and finally dulled down to almost nothing and now I feel no pain there. I dont know about fluid in my pelvic region but for years I have had alot of fluid problems coming from me. Last year I also started to bleed every day for 5 months, some days would be heavy, others would just be spotting, finally I was sent to the emergency room and learned I was anemic because of this. I had to get an ultrasound, Im not sure what they found with the tests, they never really informed me of anything except to say my ovaries stopped working. I went to a gyno for the first time, before the ultrasound, and they declared me fine, no problems down there .. so I dont know. Im very confused. Dealing with discharge for years, on and off bleeding and pain in many parts of my body.

After Partial-Hystorectomy, cat scan shows fluid in pelvis...
HI, in 2006, I began having bouts of off-and-on bleeding myself! Was severe! I swore it looked like I was bleeding out tissue. Went to countless doctors. Most said it was just heavy Menstrual cycles. In 2010 I found out I had Hypothyroidism (which explained the tiredness,hair-loss, and brittle nails) and b/c of this, the imbalance of hormones caused abnormal menstrual cycles...none-the-less, when I had them, they were heavy. I dealt with it. I gained lots of weight and I finally decided to see a Dr about weight-loss where they performed blood work and found out I was severely anemic. Then had to see an OB-Gyn. WE decided on partial hysterectomy since I could not take the side effects to heavy bleeding (bed-ridden/severe bleeding/cramping/back pains/muscle aches)...I want to stress, it felt like I was having a miscarriage and also looked that way! After the hysterectomy, the pathology report showed it was Adenomyosis (bleeding tissue inside of uterus wall) and the only way it was ever going to stop is by hysterectomy(the only cure for adenomyosis). I had also had previous endometriosis. Now sonograms throughout the years had constantly showed thickening of the lining of uterus and None of the doctors did anything about it! Now, after hysterectomy, I'm having pain in upper abdomen and recently had a Cat scan and colonoscopy. The cat scan showed large amounts of fluid in the pelvic area and large cyst. But there is still no answers to why there is fluid in pelvis area and tightening muscle cramping (or bulge/lump) in abdomen wall. Anyhow, this has all taken place in the last 6 weeks so my GI doctor took biopsies of places in the GI tract to find out why I'm still a bit anemic and as for the fluid in pelvis, i will have to go back to my OB-Gyn..I have read something about this thing called "febrile morbidity"... will know more later this week! Anyone else experiencing abdominal pain/tightening/bulge after partial hysterectomy and fluid in pelvis??? and know why???

hi confusegirl725. I actually have the same symptoms. back pain, pain in the hip area and left groin. Now with the chest pain as well and left stomach pain. I was diagnosed with a small inguinal hernia but when they did the laporoscopy, there was no hernia at all.

I was very upset going through the procedure for something that did not actually exist. The surgeon said there was a cyst in the uterus and liquid in the pelvic area. She took a sample and sent the liquid for some test. there's no result yet but I'm praying that it not something serious.
