Ice Posted: 11-07-04 19:43pm
Does anyone else have to have ice almost
all the time?!!! I ge this way with all
of my pregnancies, and normally I can't
eat ice because it hurts my teeth... A
friend also told me that her family and
her dentist told her that ice is bad for
your teeth because it can stain them
(??????? Anyone else ever heard this?)
thanks!!!
(i am eating ice right now lol )

My mom craved ice with all of her babies,
and ice is made of water, and water is not
known to stain your teeth? I think you
have a crack pot dentist!

I know that is what I thought, but the
only thing I could figure is because most
people make their ice from tapwater and
maybe that is what she was talking about?!
I eat it anyway... It is the only way I
can get my water for the day since I hate
drinking water... Yeah and I agree with
it beind obnoxious, sometimes it gets on
my own nerves, but my husband says it
doesn't bother him, so I eat on!!
The picture was of my two girls rheana 32
mon and olivia 18 mon
rheana, oddly enough, being the oldest- is
the one with less hair!

I have never heard of that from my
dentist. The only thing that my dentist
told me was to be careful when eating ice
because you can chip or crack your teeth.
But I eat on

Ok, thanx, not that there were any dangers
of me giving it up.... Like I said, that
is the only way I can get my water for the
day is eating a million pieces of ice!!!!!

Hmm it seem somewhere along the way I have
heard that if you are craving ice it's a
sympton of iron deficinecy??? I dunno I
could be wrong.

I heard that as far as when someone craves
dirt, clay, paper, and cornstarch, but not
the ice, but it makes sense because I
guess the tapwater could have iron in it?
I don't know, but I know I don;t have an
iron deficiency. Thanx for the insight
though I love your picture

It definately doesn't stain your teeth.
But it does wear on the enamel. It is
not good for you, but I still chew it too.
I have a 28 mo. Old and an 8 mo. Old
(i saw your close babies, and your preg.
Again??!!). Bad news-my daughter loves
to chew ice now. I gotta break this bad
habit!

then 18 mon between the two youngest girls
when emma is born we wanted them close
together, but there was supposed to be a
boy in there somwhere???? My two love
ice also, I don't want to know it's bad, I
was glad that they like something that
doesn't have sugar in it, ya know?

My husband would get frustrated because I
would pay for a foutain drink at the store
but it would be filled to the top with ice
and only enough drink to soften the ice a
little

We are hoping for a boy eventually. Are
you going to have more? I read in
another post that you're only 24. I am
too. I feel like i'm going insane being
24 and driving my two babies around in my
minivan all day to playgroups!
It's called pica. Pica is when you crave
non-food items during pregnancy like ice,
dirt, ashes, clay, chalk, laundry starch,
baking soda, soap, toothpaste, paint
chips, plaster, wax, hair, coffee grounds,
and even cigarette butts. It may mean
you have a n iron deficiency, but that's
not necessarily true. Just don't eat ice
to replace real food (obviously), and the
worst it will probably do is hurt your
teeth.

anymore, I am haveing my tubes tied,
pronto, already on the list. I am 24

husband wanted a boy, but he understands
it is all his doing...The man makes the
sex of the baby

ew, hair..Yeah that's what it was, thnx,
no trust me I still eat, I should be
replacing some food with ice!!! Yeah, it
can be a sign if i/d, but not in me (so
far anyway) my aunt used to eat notebook
paper and I had a lot of friends who like
to eat cornstarch straight from the box.

My girls are 28 mos. And 8 months. It
is so hard for me. I can't imagine
having another one anytime soon. My mom
had her tubes tied when she was 26. I
remember when I was growing up, she really
regreted it. So, i'm going to wait until
maybe 38. Well, my husband will wait
until he's 40. It's his turn to take
some reproductive responsibility in this
family.

Shoot we are both getting ours done!!!
I will just wait on grandkids, my mom had
hers tied and has never regretted it.. To
each hteir own though, huh? My girls,
especially the oldest drive me crazy all
day while daddy is gone to work, and I
can't just go get a job at 9 mon preg, we
have to get the girls on the wating list
for on base daycare, but there are so many
horro stories lately of kids being abused,
a guy my husband worked with had his under
1 yr old son at a babysitter, the
babysitter got mad and beat the caca out
of the baby and the baby had to have half
of his brain removed in order to survive
the swelling was so bad and still didn;t
make it... So sad
my daughter drives me crazy and she gets
fussed at and spankings but I would never
do anything to seriously hurt her

That's terrible! I
was thinking of going back to work because
both of mine are driving me crazy. My
little one is really a hand full and i'm
scared to leave her all day with a sitter.
I couldn't handle it if she wasn't mine.

Sometimes they are better with someone
else, but I would rather go crazy at home
than crazy at work worrying about them at
a daycare or whatever
