Sleep Study Came After Seizure Dx
For my son, the sleep study came after an idiotologist (incompetent epi that is) said he no longer has e and has a sleep disorder. Of course he had not told me this, he told me had had e and may outgrow it. He told the sleep disorder story to our neuro. So we had this tested after he had an eeg with the neuro that showed snoring. He has not had a seizure on an eeg ever, and this is how we got into misdiagnosis 4 years after we began treatment. We are waiting to redo veeg with a new epilepsy specialist far from that last one...Sleep study showed no apnea, as the neuro insisted and the only sleep disorder is primary limb movement disorder which was caused by the veeg doc removing his meds to fast and leaving him off meds....(went through awful withdrawal and the doc refused to see him).....He did not have any seizures during this test so the pmld is in addition to his nocturnal seizures. He has pmld every night. He only seizes every couple of weeks, right now. (in the spring he was up to 1-4 times a week....)

my daughter had vertigo episodes a couple of years ago and her first eeg was normal. Her neuro thought she might have a sleep disorder. When we started seeing myoclonics and one nocturnal this neuro thought it could still be a sleep disorder and ordered the sleep study. Her new eeg results came in abnormal this time. The sleep study ruled out a sleep disorder in her case.
