Hi all! I went to my rheumy yesterday and he said that since what I am telling him sounds like fibro, we will focus on that for now and put the test results aside. (i've had my ana test positive three times and asma -anti smooth muscle antibody also positive). My regular doc says I have the malar rash, rheumy is not so sure. Before, he also was almost certain it was lupus, now he's not so sure. I feel so depressed, sad, angry. How can it be fibro with these other tests being positive?

Thanks for listening. Em Crying or Very sad

There are a lot of tests and a lot of criteria that they use to diagnose lupus with...And, unfortunately, it can be a long arduous road, mine was seven years.

Have you considered a second opinion?

*hugs*

Re: Frustrated
Hi ladybrannon!!! Thank you so much for responding. I am actually trying to find another rheumatologist. My last resort would be to go to the mayo clinic out here in scottsdale.

If you don't mind my asking, why does it take so long? What was your experience? Did they tell you the whole "fibro" thing as well? When do they finally decide "ok, you have lupus"? This guy i'm seeing now actually wanted to put me on prednisone before even doing more research "to see if it works." ugh. I'm not a guinea pig! (although I may eat like one! :-d )

thanks for your help! Lots of big hugs to you!!! Em
